blurbHe lost his twin, but he intends to keep his pack.

When head bullfighter Denton is killed by a demon bull, his twin, Denver, comes back to take his place. Denver was gone for years, working mundane rodeos and missing his twin. He’s not sure the pack can heal him since the other bullfighters challenge Denver at every turn. All except Blaine, who’s an outcast himself, and who knows Denver is like no one he’s ever met.

ARe

excerpt

Denver was—wow.

Denton had been stunning, making Blaine stare a lot. A lot. Still, Dent had been off-limits, and he’d bet Denver was, too. No one could be that hot and be like Blaine.

He was the weird one, the one brought into the pack by a she-wolf who had already had a single pup. Blaine figured he was lucky no one had killed him when he was a kid.

Everyone else was broad and wide, shaggy-headed with eyes like green glass. All of them came from the same line. Denver was the spitting image of Denton, really. A little harder around the edges, a little more wild. A shit ton more bruised.

The guys had been taking turns. Two a night, just like clockwork, they’d come and challenge Denver. One at midnight, one at three a.m. Greg and Vince went, then Carter and Caul, and finally Hank and Mike. Boom.

He supposed Denver was waiting for him now. Blaine sighed. He had no intention of trying to take the pack. God, the very idea made his head hurt.

The real question was, were they going to just start over, or was Denver going to get a night off, a chance to sleep before they settled in town for tonight’s show?

Eventually they’d kill Denver, too. Someone would get lucky, and the Alpha would get tired. Then where would they be? None of the others were really natural leaders.

Blaine glanced away to make sure no one else was about. When he looked back at Denver, the man was staring back at him. Damn. Caught.

One eye was black, damn near swollen shut, but the other watched him like a hawk.

He didn’t turn tail like he wanted to, and he fought down a nervous smile, managing a nod instead. Then he grabbed his proverbial bootstraps and pulled his courage up out of his socks.

Hey. You need anything, man? I was gonna go get a hamburger.”

Thank you, no.” Denver’s head tilted, the look pure Denton down to a T. “Is it your turn tonight? Seems like a shitty deal, to be left to fight on your own.”

Well, I never did pair up.” He shrugged. “I don’t want your job. If that means I ain’t good enough to work with you, I’ll fight. But if you can handle that, I’ll have your back.”

You were good enough for Dent; you’re good enough for me.”

Thanks.” Relief flowed through him. Acceptance wasn’t always easy when you were different. Wolves could turn on anyone with weird eyes or a bad leg. Or not-pack blood. “Well. You sure you don’t want some food?”

Honey, I appreciate it, but they’ll turn on you. It’s how it works. ’Sides, my jaw’s tender.” He got a half grin, and he didn’t get it. Denver was supposed to be, like, this violent, leather-wearing biker asshole. Not a guy who grinned.

Shit, they always called me Dent’s whipping boy. They let me stay because I’m fast and stronger than I look. I have a way with the stock.”

Yeah? I need to learn them. I’ll buy food, you tell me about them. All of them. I’ve been working mundane shows.”

Oh, then you’re in for a whole new world.” Even the regular bulls were genetically engineered these days so hardly anyone could stay on them, but their show? Holy-shit-moly.

I worked the show under Elvin.”

Whoa. Elvin had trained Dent, too. The man was a legend. Dead, but a legend. Sort of like Dent.

You’ll do all right, then, but there are a few to watch out for.” He would be happy to be the one to fill in Denver on their big beasts.

Denver walked with him, solid and quiet. Still.

Blaine felt the urge to babble, which he never did. He was the quiet one, for fuck’s sake. He knew to keep his fucking head down and stay under the fucking radar.

Huh?” He’d been so busy keeping his head down, he’d missed what Denver had asked. Smooth.

I just asked which ones you like best, the burgers.”

Oh, the double bacon cowboy burger.” His mouth watered at the name.

What makes it a cowboy burger?”

Barbecue sauce and fried onions.” He loved that sweet and sour and crispy bacon goodness. His belly rumbled. He was so damned hungry. He’d never admit it to Denver, but half the reason he wanted to eat with the man was that the pack had been, uh, denying him some resources.

Speaking of, Mike came around the corner, snarling. “What are you doing with him, Stubby?”

God, he hated that fucking nickname.

Before he could answer, Denver growled, the sound raising his hackles. “Are you questioning me, pup?”

Mike stared, belligerent as all hell, but his bruises told the story. Denver had beat him down. Mike finally looked away. “No, sir.”

I didn’t think so.” Denver watched until Mike left, then they kept walking.

That was amazing.” Blaine could fight. God knew he could take a hit from two thousand pounds of pissed-off beef on the hoof and keep going. But he’d never seen Mikey back off that fast, not even from Dent.

So, Stubby? Seriously? Doesn’t seem to suit.”

His cheeks heated, and Blaine put his hands in his pockets. “I hate it.”

Good to know.” Laconic didn’t begin to describe this man. Getting words out was like pulling teeth.

Yeah. I mean, that way you can only use it when you want to piss me off.”

That’s fair. You work the final night?”

I do.” No one could deny he had a way with Bricklayer. That damned bull was always a top draw, and he was mean as a snake.

Good.” Somehow the single word felt like a stamp of approval.

blurbBlaze offers Zack a home, but is love enough to keep him?

Psychic Blaze scouts locations for the rodeo company, Darque and Knight. While checking out a possible venue he finds another psychic talent, Zack, who’s hot as the Fourth of July.

Zack is complicated, though, thanks to his sidekick, Mikey, a damaged kid. Blaze invites the pair back to the rodeo, but not everyone is as happy as Blaze to have them there.

ARe

excerpt

Hello?” Blaze rapped on the door. “Come on. I know you’re in there.” He rolled his eyes at the silence that answered him. “Look, we can do this all afternoon, or you can just open the fucking door. I know what you are. I’m not here to hurt you.” Still nothing. “Oh, for… I really don’t want to break the door down. I bruise like an overripe peach.”

After another few moments, he heard the floor creak, and the lock on the door slide free.

The door swung inward, revealing a man who looked only slightly younger than himself, and a boy. The child looked no older than ten years. He was a slight thing, skinny, but his wide, liquid brown eyes glittered with fear and a spark of curiosity.

The man stepped in front of the boy as if to protect the child from Blaze. His green eyes were hard with suspicion, but that didn’t stop Blaze from noting his high cheekbones, and lean, hard body clad in a tight, worn t-shirt and denim, or the inky black hair that fell in a sleek sheet past his shoulders.

Blaze cleared his throat. “Look, I know you’re a supernatural. So am I. We’re on the same side. My name is Blaze.”

Supernatural? What’s that?” The man’s lips mashed into a thin, tense line.

Come on. Neither of us is stupid. You can sense it in me. I know you can.”

The man chewed on his lip, staring hard at Blaze for a moment, then seemed to come to a decision. He gave a short nod. “I’m Zack. The boy is Mikey. At least, that’s what I call him. I don’t know his real name. He doesn’t talk.”

Blaze glanced at the boy. Small for his age, almost scrawny. He had brown hair, huge, dark eyes, and milk-pale skin. Blaze spotted the faint markings of faded bruises on the child’s face. “Mind telling me how a supernatural came to be squatting in a farmhouse with a mundane kid?”

Zack reached behind him, as if to prove to himself Mikey was still there, and all right. “It’s not much of a story. I was in Kansas City, working for a supe who owned a pizza place. I made deliveries, helped clean, that sort of thing.”

Blaze nodded. “Go on.”

I had a delivery in a part of town that was pretty worn down. You know, tenements, some abandoned buildings, drug dealers, hookers on the corner, that sort of thing. I made the delivery in a building that was only one-step up from condemned. When I was walking down the hallway, I heard a kid screaming.”

Let me guess… you played hero and busted down the door to save him.”

Zack cocked his head and narrowed his eyes. “There was a child screaming bloody murder. You wouldn’t?”

Blaze tried to stare Zack down, but couldn’t. He rolled his eyes and tried to hedge instead. “Only someone stupid or with a death wish would do it.”

Zack’s lips tilted in a smirk. “Which one are you?”

Blaze snorted. “Never mind. So, what happened?”

The door was unlocked, so I opened it and went inside. There was a male mundane, big guy, six-foot easy, maybe two-twenty, two-thirty, and he’s wailing on this little kid. The kid is crying, and saying ‘no, please stop, please stop.’ What was I supposed to do? Walk away?”

Most supes would say yes.”

Yeah, well, not this one. I know what it’s like to be on the wrong end of a fist. I got the kid out.”

Blaze gave Zack the once-over. “You’re lean, and going up against a human weighing in at two-thirty? How did you manage that?”

I never had to touch him.” For the first time, Zack smiled, and the effect was devastating. His curved lips transformed his face from merely good-looking to truly gorgeous. Twin dimples winked at Blaze, and his green eyes flashed with humor. “I’m telekinetic. I picked that big bastard up and floated him right out of the window. Let him hover in the air until he fucking wet his pants, then put him up on the roof of the building next door. Took the kid and split. That was the last time I heard Mikey speak. I think maybe his throat was injured in the beating.”

Look, I understand you helping the kid and all, but isn’t that kidnapping?” The last thing Blaze needed was to get involved in a criminal activity which might bring the eyes of the police on the rodeo.

Zack shook his head. “No. When we got away, I gave him a pen and paper, asked him if that was his dad. He said no. Said the guy stole him from the orphanage.”

He’s an orphan?”

That’s what he says. Or writes. He doesn’t want to go back there. It’s not a nice place, I think. The other kids are bigger, and mean to him, and the nuns who ran it weren’t much better.”

Blaze sniffed. “Who is this kid? Oliver Twist?”

Zack glared at him. “Nobody is asking for your opinion or your permission.”

You’re right, you’re right. My apologies. You’re a good man for taking care of him.”

Zack seemed mollified. “Who are you, anyway?”

Like I said, my name is Blaze. Blaze Morgan. I’m the patch for the Darque and Knight Rodeo. Ever heard of us?” He looked back and forth between Zack and Mikey, noting the blank expressions on both faces. “We’re the only professional rodeo staffed by and performing for supernaturals. We travel the country every year performing in little towns just like this one. Gonna be setting up here in a few hours. Which brings me to my, er… little problem. You see, you’re squatting in what’s going to be the middle of our rodeo.”

We got no place else to go. And we were here first.” Zack’s expression grew hard again, the muscles in his arms bunching as his hands curled into fists. It was obvious he was gearing up for a fight.

Blaze held his hands out. The last thing he needed was a busted nose from some hayseed Supe squatter. “Whoa. Now, we don’t want any trouble. I understand. Really, I do. But the kid can’t stay here. He’s human. You can, since you’re a supe, but not him.”

If I stay, he stays, and no matter what you say, neither of us is going anywhere.”

Come on, Zack. Be reasonable. There’s going to be a whole shitload of supes pulling in here in the next few hours. If they see the kid, they’ll go apeshit.”

Then tell them to go somewhere else.”

Blaze shook his head. “I can’t. I’m not the one in charge.”

Then we’ll talk to the person who is.”

blurbLittle bear comes into his own.

Ben Ursa has been out of the Midnight Rodeo game for a while, recovering from a terrible head injury. When he comes back, he finds a whole new place in the pecking order, his trained horses in high demand.

He also finds rodeo clown and grizzly shifter, Ozzie, who rejected him for being too young before. Now Ozzie thinks he’s just right, even if he is a little black bear. Can Ben really recover and become Ozzie’s mate, or will his family scheme to keep him “little bear”?

ARe

excerpt

Man, the bullfighters all have their panties in a wad. I hope to hell they settle it out.” Ozzie wiped makeup off his forehead, growling a little at Thack’s assistant, January.

You and me and the boss and the big boss and every other creature here, sir.”

Sir.

God, the wee little brownie was adorable. Such a cutie, with his little square glasses and his tiny soul patch of a beard.

Squishable.

Ozzie wanted to hug January and lick him, maybe. Definitely sniff him. Ozzie reined in his bear tendencies, which could crop up at the least convenient times. His desire wasn’t even sexual. More teddy bear like.

So, tell me about the next venue,” Ozzie said. Their next stop was at a brand new arena.

It’s near Santa Fe, sir. A charming arena with adequate facilities and a fabulous local pool of talent. They’re… surprisingly active there.”

Are they? Good. We need more talent in the timed events.”

Yes. Yes, I believe Ben Ursa will be rejoining us. Mr. Thackery is very pleased.”

Ben? Ben Ursa?

Poor kid. Ozzie remembered him well, and not only for his name, which was as bad as Osbourne McMahon. Bear Son of the Bear. Ben Ursa was Grizzly Adams meeting Latin.

They get his brains all unrattled? Last time I saw him, he was in a bad way.”

That depends on who you ask. January, I need the manifests for the drivers.” Thack nodded to Ozzie as January scrambled.

Oh. Poor kid. But he’s good to ride?” He had to admit he’d had a thing for Ben, but he’d ignored it, waiting for the kid to be more confident. Hell, he felt like shit over it because the night the kid had gotten hurt, Ben tried to make a move on Ozzie, which he rebuffed.

He wanted Ben to be all grown-up first.

He’s got a hard head.” Thack shrugged. “Shit, man, you know the kid is terrible at his job. He trains the best horses, though.”

He does.” Good hazing, roping, and bulldogging horses were worth their weight in gold in their business. Worth enough to give a bad bulldogger a job. “I’ll have to stop by his trailer and say hi.”

It would be good to have another bear on tour again. Someone who understood about naps and salmon. Mmm. Salmon. He did love that stuff. Honey, too.

He’s in the big black trailer with the bear painted on it.”

Good deal.” He’d drop by on his way to get some food. Wave. Sniff some.

Thack nodded. “Good show, man.”

Thank you.” Ozzie loved his job. He got to play on his natural bearish clumsiness and be a smart-ass at the same time.

Thack smiled, and Jesus fuck, that was creepy. All teeth and horns. Demons. Scary like whoa sometimes.

Ozzie waved and headed to see the little bear. Wow. That trailer was nicer than his. Way nicer.

Little Ben had family with money, with land, with amazing horses. Talk about a bear with a silver honey spoon in his mouth.

Ozzie grinned. Of course, the kid had also been hurt so bad a few seasons ago that he had to learn how to walk all over again. That meant the kid had grit. Determination.

He knocked on the trailer door, the little bear’s voice ringing out. “Coming!”

Ozzie tried to peer inside, but the window by the door was too small to get a good view.

The door opened up, bright button eyes shining at him from Ben’s smiling face. “Oz!”

Hey, buddy.” Oh, look at that. Ben looked so much better than he had last time Ozzie had seen him.

Come in. Come in. I just got here.” Ben was little for a bear, but a solid, broad shouldered man with a shock of pitch-black hair. He looked healthier, the skinny and pallor wore clean off from when he’d been hurt.

Thanks. Thack said you were back.”

I’m trying to be, yeah. It was touch and go.”

Well, I’m glad you’re better, kiddo.” Man, the inside of the fifth wheel was amazing, a big kitchen and a huge platform bed visible in the back.

Have a sit.”

The place was like a rolling condo—someone’s momma wanted to assure her cub was comfortable and safe.

He didn’t even have to move dirty clothes off the built-in sofa before he sat. “Nice place.”

Yeah. Momma Bear. You know.”

I do.” He’d met Ben’s mom. She was something else.

Ben blushed, head ducking, and Ozzie saw the scar, heavy and thick against his scalp. Damn.

Hey, my mom still packs my lunch when she comes to visit. Smoked salmon tea sandwiches,” Ozzie said.

I like smoked salmon. Lots. You want a beer?”

Honey wheat?”

Ben nodded. “I got a six-pack. You’re off work, hmm?”

I am.” He settled back, just—Man, it was nice to have another bear around, the scent familiar. Comforting. He forgot, sometimes, how alone he felt. Seeing Ben reminded him how much he’d liked the kid, too.

Little Ben brought him a beer, settling down across from him, all grins. Such a cutie. Really, Ozzie felt a little pervy around Ben. Just a little. Ben was gentle, peaceful, not a bit of growl in him.

Ozzie grinned. He had a lot of grr. A lot of grizzly.

blurbHe’s here on vacation. They’re here for him.

Samson and Dane are werewolves who act as guardians of their pack. They’re also lovers, but they both long for the third person they know will make their home whole. Their Chosen.

Ryan has no idea he’s even a werewolf. He’s visiting rural New Mexico and Colorado to write horror novels, not get it on with the two hottest men he’s ever met. So why can’t he keep his hands off them, and why is biting suddenly so hot? Can Samson and Dane convince Ryan that he’s like them, and that he needs to leave his city life behind?

ARe

excerpt

The pup slipped out of bed late in the night. They’d all slept like they’d been on a hunt, which he guessed lots of Mexican food and sex could simulate. In fact, Dane slept on, not even snuffling when the pressure of Ryan’s body left the mattress.

Samson, now, he wasn’t a deep sleeper, and he knew when someone was trying to make like coyote ugly and not wake him so they could slip away.

That simply didn’t work for him.

He reached out and wrapped one hand around a lean hip. “Where you going?” Samson murmured.

Ryan jumped like he’d been popped with a rubber band in the balls. “I missed my real estate appointment.”

“Well, it’s not like you can call your agent at this time of night, honey.”

“No. No, I guess not.” Ryan stood there, pale in the streetlight filtering in from outside.

Samson loved how Ryan was different, like a marble statue, but warm, alive. He had to wonder if the wolf was pale, too, thin.

“How do you look in your other life?” he asked.

“Like a writer, I guess? I just have a place in Dallas. I’m blocked, so I came out here.”

“Blocked how?” Was it too cold out there on the porch for a guy from Dallas? Samson grabbed an extra blanket and took Ryan outside with him, the pup following easily when he tugged.

“Like writer’s block? I’d been working on a series and I’ve written myself into a hole. I don’t even want to write zombies anymore. It’s silly nonsense, really, but I thought if I came out to the boonies and learned all I could about something new the plot would come to me. I mean, I told my agent I was writing martians, but really, I need to finish the series.”

“Zombies.” Samson blinked, then chuckled, pulling Ryan down with him on the big swing dealie and wrapping them in the blanket. It felt natural as breathing, just like touching Dane always did. Poor Dane. Two orgasms and the guy was out like the proverbial light.

“Yeah. They’re in right now.” Ryan’s nostrils flared and he knew the pup was scenting him, learning him. Exceptional instincts. Samson approved.

“Hmm. I think you ought to add in werewolves.” What would Ryan say to that? Could be really be completely unaware of what was inside him? Samson knew the wolf was in there.

Their alpha, Bruce, was going to give them no end of shit, both sets of his guardians ending up with dormant Omegas. What were the chances?

“Werewolves? They’re almost as done as vampires. Shame, though. I love the trappings of the genre, really.”

“What’s your favorite part?” This was fascinating. It was like seeing himself through someone else’s eyes for the first time. Seeing a werewolf movie with someone who didn’t watch horror…

“The whole animalistic versus human situation. It’s a turn on, just like the whole biting thing in the vampire world.”

“I like biting. So does Dane.” Samson nibbled at the nape of Ryan’s neck.

“Uhn.” Ryan shuddered for him, the entire motion pure sex. “Does he?”

“Mmmhmm. Oh, he’ll tell you he’d rather do the biting and scold for being bitten, but he catches and pitches, if you get me.” Dane could fight like a stone cold motherfucker, but he could bottom like a hot little slut, too.

It all worked for him.

“How long have you two been together?”

Samson pondered that. “Well, we’ve known each other since infancy, I guess.”

“Oh, wow. No shit? That’s cool, huh?”

“Yeah. Sometimes it’s annoying as hell.” Samson chuffed out a laugh. “I adore the fucker, though.”

“Well, good. You two pick up strangers a lot?”

“No.” He tilted back Ryan’s head so he could look into those pretty eyes. “No, we don’t.”

“No?” The blue in Ryan’s eyes were a perfect match for the streaks in the mussed hair, and the combination of looks served to make Ryan looked so young.

“No. You were different right away. We knew you were there before we ever stepped inside.”

Ryan chuckled softly, shook his head. “That’s impossible.”

“No it’s not, honey.” He stroked that flat belly, tugging the heavy ring that pierced Ryan’s cock and Ryan moaned, ass pushing back against him.

“That’s it. Feel it. We’re connected. All of us.”

“God, that…that feels like magic.”

“I love your skin. So smooth.”

“I wax, remember?”

He blinked. Seriously? Ow. Potential for a guy that didn’t mind a little sting, but… Ow. His balls tried to crawl up in his body.

blurbA desperate dragon. A lonely necromancer. A marriage neither wants.

When he is summoned to the royal castle, Rochus anticipates nothing more than a particularly difficult assignment. The bothersome journey is almost made worthwhile when he is propositioned by a young, beautiful dragon, Tilo, who seems untroubled by the fact that Rochus is a necromancer.

When Rochus arrives at the castle he is ordered to marry the very same dragon he spent the night with. Though Rochus would rather sign papers and return home, he is helpless against Tilo’s pleas for help, even if it means spending more time around a man he is desperately drawn to but who doesn’t seem to want him.

ARe Amazon

excerpt

Rochus pulled off his spectacles and wiped them clean as the door of the tavern slammed shut behind him. Noise washed over him, along with the smell of cheap food and too many unwashed people, an undercurrent of smoke, and the faint tingle of magic. He stared through the large, open archway into the dining hall, the need for food warring with a need for solitude and a reluctance to endure the stares that would come when everyone realized what he was.

But he detested hiding in his room like he was something to be ashamed of, and hiding wouldn’t stop the rumors or whispers. So he slipped his spectacles back on and approached the counter, pushing back the hood of his cloak. He set two worn, gleaming coins on the counter, ignoring the wide eyes and gaping mouth of the man behind it. “A room, a bath, supper, and breakfast.”

“Supper and—” The man snapped his mouth shut. “Of course, magus. Um…” He picked up the coins, eyes flitting about nervously. So close to the royal castle, one would think they’d be more used to the likes of Rochus, but then again, most of his kind preferred to avoid undue attention, and the rest were spoiled brats who’d never settle at a cheap tavern when the royal castle was only a few more hours away.

Stifling a sigh, Rochus answered the question the man couldn’t quite get out. “Pig or cow blood will work fine, and chicken or some other fowl if that’s the best you can muster. A full pitcher of it, though merely a cup will suffice if more cannot be found. Not horse.” They were far too expensive to drain, and the taste wasn’t worth it.

“Y-yes, magus. Um.” The man licked his lips. “Will you want to see the room first or go straight to the dining hall?”

“The room, and I’ll take the bath after I’ve dined.”

The man murmured another affirmative, tucked the coins away, and slid a key across the counter. “Up the stairs, all the way at the very end of that first hall.”

“My thanks,” Rochus replied and resettled his saddlebags on his shoulder before heading up the dark, creaky steps and down the long hallway. It branched off in three places, but as promised, his was the room at the very back of the first, main hallway.

It smelled of dust and disuse, with a slight tingling-tang of old, faded magic. Powerful magic, likely wards or some other cage meant to keep something in. But the inn had once been a castle in its own right, before it had been torn down and rebuilt, changed to something less expensive and more profitable than an empty fortress. It wasn’t surprising remnants of the fortress remained in more than the old stones.

He dropped his saddlebags on the bed and quickly sent his heavy travel cloak after them. Removing his spectacles, he combed fingers through his short, sweat-damp hair. In the dark room, with nothing but slips of moonlight to lend visibility, his hair appeared black. Better lighting would prove it to be blue, so too his nails and teeth. It was the teeth that always made people most uncomfortable—dark blue, some more pointed than they should be, all the more stark against his too-white skin.

Rochus briefly considered changing into fresh clothes, but there was little point until after he’d had a bath—and no telling what would happen in the dining hall. It would hardly be the first time some country bumpkins or foreign nitwits wailed superstitious nonsense and tried to kill him, nevermind he reported directly to the crown.

He smoothed out his robes, frowning at a small tear in the right sleeve. He’d have to stitch it later after his bath.

For the moment, it was time for supper, and hopefully he’d get to enjoy it in peace.

Heading back downstairs, Rochus walked into and through the dining hall, keeping his head up even when the whispers started.

Necromancer.

Half-dead.

Blood-drinker.

His lips curled briefly when he heard someone ask their companion if Rochus was a vampire. As though he was one of those needle-teethed, full-dead mongrels. He drank blood and his teeth were meant for hunting, but it wasn’t the same thing. His teeth were more like those of a wolf—teeth he did not use thus because he was a civilized, capable necromancer of forty-three, not some ravening monster.

Rochus sat down at a table in the corner where he wasn’t too close to the fire but would still be warm and would be able to see anyone who tried to approach him.

A couple of minutes after he sat, a pale-faced young man brought him a pitcher and cup with faintly trembling hands. Rochus slid a coin across the table, nodding for him to take it. The boy took it and skittered away, and the whispers increased as Rochus poured himself a cup of blood and sipped it. Pig, which he preferred, save for those rare occasions he was able to get something as decadent as human.

He took several more sips, savored the way it warmed him through. There was nothing he hated more than being cold, but it was the one thing he would always be due to what was called his half-dead state. He wasn’t actually dead, half or otherwise, but necromancy demanded a high price, drained away half his spirit, replaced it with those unique spiritual energies he needed to wield his strange magic. The physical effects—the corpse white skin, the death-black bones, the need for food replaced by a need for blood—were what earned necromancers the reputation of being half-dead.

“Full Moon Dating. Have you tried our online site? Yes, I’m afraid you do have to go through the screening process. Really? I’ll be sure to tell 911 when I call them, you sick fuck.” The phone in the outer office slammed down with the musical jingle only an old rotary phone could make.

Very privately, Stone thought that was why Adelia had chosen that phone, and the very film noir detective office vibe she’d used to decorate her domain. It went with the pencil skirt and high-waisted blouse fashion statement she chose every day as well.

She appeared at his door, her victory roll (she had informed him they were called that when he referred to them as “those curly things”) hairdo just slightly mussed, signaling agitation. “Okay, I’m going to start sending the nutbag wannabe paranormals to you, boss. That guy wanted to date a vampire, so he could be a serial killer without actually having to kill someone.”

Stone sat back in his chair and raised a brow. “You’re way meaner than me, Ades. You deal with them so well.”

“There are some crazy bastards out there, boss.” He could almost see her tail, white-tipped and fuzzy, twitching.

“I know. That’s why this business is going to boom.” Stone grinned, tickled as hell that they had an office and a website. Now they just needed to facilitate their first couple, so they could get some testimonials.

Adelia gave him the hairy eyeball and then shook her head. “So, when do you want to go over the sheets?”

“Let’s look at them for an hour or so tonight. I’ve already run the points of comparison database.” They had stuff in their questionnaire that those other match and mingle sites didn’t have. Lots of stuff.

Between his business and marketing savvy and Harve’s computer and psych training, they had a winner, right?

“You got it, boss. I think I already have a couple of good dates in mind.” She waggled her brows.

“I bet they’re gay,” he murmured. Adelia was obsessed with the idea of two men together. That was why she worked for him.

“You think?” She flipped him off, playfully.

“Well, put them at the top of the pile.”

“Top of the pile for Mr. City Wolf and Mr. Country Wolf.”

“Oh, man.” He chuckled. “Tell me why they’re a match?”

“A little red wolf photographer from Dallas who’s had ‘bad luck with long-term commitment’ and a huge gray from up north looking for someone to ‘make his mate.’ It’s perfect.”

“Really?” He grabbed the folders she handed him and flipped through them. “Uh, little red is not into spanking.”

She snorted. “He’s stressed out and overworked. He might like it.”

“Adelia.”

“What?”

“We have to match them based on actual interests.” Maybe he’d ask Harve.

“Says who?”

“We’re a dating service!” He was trying hard not to smile. Harve was the psychologist slash computer geek. Adelia was the psychic. He was pretty damned sure of it.

“And we’re run by an incredibly observant business magnate.”

“Indeed.” He shook his head at her. “You’re such a freak.”

“Yeah, but I’m your freak and you adore me.”

“I do.” He gave her a fond grin before she trotted back out front to answer the phone, her heels clicking. Stone stared at the two folders on the top of the pile. The more he thought about the cowboy wolf from Wyoming who liked to top and the fussy little red from Dallas, the more he liked it.

Maybe he’d skip Harve altogether.

Stone picked up the phone and dialed the number in folder one. “Hello, Aiden Underhill? This is the Full Moon Dating site manager. You’re our grand prize winner this month. You’ve won an all-expenses paid trip to Jackson Hole.”

Quantum series by M.S. Force Spotlight and #Giveaway

Quantum Spotlight Tour

With Author M.S. Force

Welcome to spotlight event featuring the hot new covers for M.S. Force’s Quantum Series! Whether you’re already a fan, or new to this great series, eat your heart out at these new covers as part of Novel Publicity’s Spotlight Event with author MS Force!

We love these books, and so we’re doing a spotlight tour! Did you know that the Quantum books will be getting their own website soon? Watch this space for details, and make sure you check out all the other great books written by Marie Force while you’re there!

What’s the big deal about the Quantum series?

The Quantum Series, written as M.S. Force, marks Marie’s first foray into erotic romance. In this series, she writes about celebrities working and playing in New York, Los Angeles and other locations around the world while pursuing their passion for dominant sexual relationships. Join the principals of the Quantum production company as each of them meets their match in life and love!

Erotica can be a risky undertaking for many authors, especially if they’re well known in other genres already. Our team carefully vets all the books and authors we work with, and here’s what we can tell you about this series and author.

  • The characters are well rounded and believable. You’ll laugh, cry, and even get angry at one or two of them.
  • The sex scenes are steamy but, and this is a BIG but, they are always consensual. If you’re new to dominant relationships and all that goes with them, you might be surprised. MS Force’s writing is graphic at times, but it’s always done in a way that allows each and every character to maintain integrity. . . just like it should be in real life.
  • We love that these covers are unique, still steamy, but not your typical couple cover!
  • These books aren’t just enjoyable for their hottest scenes. There’s a whole story between the covers, and it deals with some tough, and for many people, very real and scary situations.

We don’t want to reveal too much, but this might just be one of the best erotic romance series out there!

Did you know the first book in the series is $0.99 for a limited time? Check it out!

As part of this event, the author is also hosting a giveaway with some stellar prize packages. Each prize includes four signed paperbacks with the original covers, a $25 Amazon gift card and Quantum swag.

blurbThey must escape danger before they can have their Hollywood ending.

After a few cinematic bombs lower his box-office appeal, actor Adrien Fury wants Harrison Langford to bring his career back to superstar status. He would also love to learn more about his mysterious and handsome agent, if he could ever get him alone.

Harry has loved Adrien for years but never revealed his feelings. He keeps things professional between them and will do whatever it takes to make sure Adrien gets what he wants. When increasingly disturbing letters show up at his agency, threatening horrible things against the man he loves, Harry vows to protect Adrien at all costs.

Adrien and Harry are on the verge of revealing their true feelings to each other when danger strikes. Maybe they can share a lasting love…if Adrien’s stalker doesn’t get to him first.

excerpt

The whole nightmare had begun a couple of months before, the first letters almost a month apart, then gradually becoming more violent and frequent. The one on Karen’s desk would be the third this week, the previous one less than twenty-four hours earlier.

“You can no longer be left alone for one thing.”

Adrien raised his head to see Harry staring at him even more intensely than normal. He hadn’t thought such a thing was possible.

“But I don’t trust anyone except my mom and sister. My brother’s out. He’d probably take out a billboard ad with directions to where I was and how to get to me. And anyway, I won’t endanger my family.”

“Of course not. After yesterday’s rather gory communication, I placed a call to a bodyguard agency. I’d planned on filling you in at the end of our meeting.”

Adrien tried not to roll his eyes. He didn’t know why they even bothered with meetings. Harry went ahead and did whatever he wanted to do anyway.

“Can I go on record and say that I think the whole bodyguard thing is creepy? Some stranger following me around in my own home, staring at me.”

“Is that less appealing to you than being killed?”

“Listen, Mr. Spock. Could I have a tiny bit of compassion here? You might not be freaking out, but I am.” He folded his hands in his lap, attempting to get his panic under control. Harry was right. Coming unglued wouldn’t help. He just had no idea what would. “Bodyguard, huh? How many and how do we pick a trustworthy agency? I mean, what if the stalker gets to them by paying them off or…something?”

“This isn’t the plot to your last bomb at the box office and regardless, I know of a reputable agency.”

Adrien let out an aggravated sigh. “Of course you do.”

“Would you prefer I was less efficient?” Harry continued as it had no doubt been a rhetorical question anyway. “I’ll confer with them. But my suggestion would be two inside and at least four on the perimeter of your property.”

Another sarcastic retort almost burst out of him, but he knew he was being a brat. It was obvious that Harry had already gone to the trouble of finding a way to protect him, probably doing it in a manner so that he wouldn’t get overly upset.

“Harry?”

“Yes, Adrien?”

“Thank you. I’m just…” He swallowed hard past a lump in his throat.

“I know, Adrien. Trust me. I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”

****

Harrison gazed at the reflection staring back at him from his mirror. He adjusted the square shaped, solid gold and pearl studs in his royal blue Canali French cuffed dress shirt. His tie was in a pattern of diagonal stripes that consisted of the dark blue of his shirt, ice blue, then black. It was an excellent contrast to what he wore, the matching gold and pearl tie bar completing his ensemble.

He kept his dark brown hair meticulously trimmed and in a professional cut. The slightly longer strands across the top of his head were slicked back, only the barest hint of silver beginning at his temples. His exercise regime was basic, but kept him trim and healthy. His goal was a flat stomach, light muscle definition and enough strength that, on the occasions he sought out a partner, he’d have the vigor to effectively wield a crop or flogger and not experience any physical drain. It’d be a waste if he was too tired to fuck a man after reddening his flesh with an arousing beating.

Harrison banished his thoughts. The only man he’d ever loved wouldn’t likely appreciate his harsh attentions. He’d been aware for a while that Adrien found him attractive, had even picked up on his occasional attempts at flirting. But from the moment he’d sought out then signed Adrien, he’d protected his career, his reputation, and had done everything in his rather extensive power to give Adrien whatever he wanted. Jumping into bed with him would’ve been irresponsible.

Neither of them had love in their lives, but both were exceedingly rich and successful. Harrison didn’t mind loving Adrien from afar, not really. He wished for more, would give almost anything to have it, but the one thing he wouldn’t do was go against Adrien’s best interests. If keeping his hands off the stunning Adrien Fury was a part of that, then so be it.

He doesn’t have time for love or relationships.

In the beginning it’d made sense. Every resource had been needed to build a superstar career. Then the offers had come in and Adrien was so busy filming and doing promo tours, there’d been time for little else. Currently, all attention had to be placed on resurrecting the great Adrien Fury to his previously exalted status.

And keeping him safe.

Harrison sucked in a sharp breath, the pain that surged through him at the slightest thought that Adrien might be harmed being almost too much for him to bear.

No one will touch him. I’ll kill them first.

blurbSometimes the moon shines brighter than the stage.

Connor ‘CJ’ Lamont is at the top of his game playing the bad boy of country music. The problem with his ultimate redneck persona is that… well, he’s not. CJ is a wickedly smart songwriter and musician who suffers from an excess of personality. He lives, not for the spotlight, but for the three months of downtime each year when he can finally be himself.

Sexy werewolf Lee Mills is hired as CJ’s new security to keep him safe and assure that he stays on the medication he’s been on since birth. But when Connor’s parents see sparks fly between their son and his new security guard, they are intent on keeping the wolf at bay. Of course, Mills isn’t used to taking orders, at least not from anyone who isn’t his pack alpha, and he has no intention of following the rules.

In fact, if Mills has his way, he’ll be smashing the spotlight and showing Connor the moon.

excerpt

Connor did his market shopping—shrimp, rum cake, and root veggies and those neat little brown sugar candy deals—before heading out to the beach house. It sat there like a faded jewel, the turquoise paint beaten down by the sun. It was little, simple, nowhere a famous asshole would live.

Connor loved it.

All he had to do was eat and swim and lounge in the sun. Oh, he had his guitar and in a few days the itch to write would be on him. For now, though, he wanted fruit. Rum.

He dumped the food in the fridge, poured himself a piña colada and headed out to his chair to soak up some sunshine.

Connor stopped short when he saw the long, well-muscled man who was stretched out on a tiny air mattress across from his lounger. “Hope you got enough food for two people,” the guy said, sitting up and running a hand through a shock of dark brown hair.

“This is private property, dude. It’s posted.” Connor wasn’t stupid. He knew this was security man, but he wasn’t fucking at work.

“I know. Not a bad setup. I can work with it without losing any of your aesthetic.”

He turned without a word and went back inside, locking the door behind him. He could call the police, but that seemed less than fair. This guy was working, doing his job. He could give it a day or two, see if the guy gave up. He could find another place, maybe another beach.

Christ.

He just wanted a break.

The door opened seconds later. “Nathan gave me a key. Look, I’m not here to make your life shit. In fact, I’ve gone over all the scenarios and decided not to hire a team like they want me to. As far as anyone knows, I’m a buddy of yours down on vacay with you. Hence the beach get-up.”

Connor glanced at Mr. Security again, who looked like something out of the International Male catalog in a pair of soft linen pants and nothing else. His accent, though, that was pure Deep South.

“I didn’t hire you. Just go home, tell my mom I’m fine, and collect your paycheck, man. I won’t tell anyone.”

“Yeah, and if you got shot or messed up or something, I would never work again.” The guy stepped up into his personal space and thrust a hand at him. “Mills.”

He shook instinctively, then pulled away. Nathan wasn’t his buddy anymore. In fact, he hoped Nathan’s retirement sucked. Okay. Connor was going to his bedroom and then he was going to create a plan that didn’t involve having a babysitter.

He was a smart dog. He could do this.

excerpt

“How do you know about the world of demons, George? How did you move as they did? I thought I had fainted by the pond and awakened beside the barn, but I didn’t, did I?”

Had she imagined being transported from the horses to the barn in a long blink?

“No, you didn’t faint. It’s called sifting. A power of the angels, to move from place to place at will.”

“But they weren’t angels.”

“They were once.”

Fallen angels. Could this be possible? What did that make the man standing before her? He inhaled a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Perhaps I should define the two realms for you.”

“That would be lovely.”

His mouth quirked at her sarcasm, though he chose not to comment. “There is the Flamma of Light and the Flamma of Dark.”

“Flamma?”

“Fire, in Latin, which is the common tongue between the heavenly and demonic hosts.”

She pulled her hand from his and stood, staring into the flames. “Why fire?”

He joined her and removed his wet coat. “I asked the same question once.” He winced as he peeled the coat off his right arm. A pool of red had soaked through his undershirt.

“Oh God, your arm, George. You’re bleeding.”

“It’s nothing.”

“It’s not nothing.”

Just as he had unbuttoned her jacket, she swiftly unfastened his waistcoat, then his shirt and peeled them off him. Steering her gaze away from his finely sculpted chest and broad shoulders, she examined the cut more closely. She bent over and, with a quick rip, tore a long strip from her shift.

“You needn’t do that, Katherine.”

“Be still and let me mend you as best I can.”

He held his arm straight so that she could wrap the fabric around his arm.

“Why fire?” she asked again, busying herself with the makeshift bandage.

“Flamma are all touched by fire, an otherworldly power given to each of us.”

She remembered the way he moved, the way the demons moved, with supernatural speed and agility. A drop of rain dripped from his tousled hair, landing on his shoulder before rolling forward. She followed its path as it slid down and over his pectoral. Trying to regain her composure, she inhaled a deep breath, which was a mistake. She breathed in the heady scent of rain and beautiful man, her agitation amplified by his proximity and the undeniable power surging through his body. She longed to touch him, to know what all that strength would feel like under her fingertips, but she was paralyzed by her own desire and wavered on a dangerous precipice. When she’d cinched the bandage into a neat knot and finally chanced a glance at him, his smile nearly buckled her knees.

“There,” she whispered. “That will stop the bleeding.”

“I’m not so sure.”

“What do you mean?”

His shoulders went rigid as if he were holding himself in tight control. Katherine knew his thoughts had wandered away from the wound in his arm. She asked again, “What do you mean, George?”

His eyes slid closed. “I love to hear my name on your lips.” He opened his eyes again, his jaw set in grave lines. “What I mean, my lady, is that I am bleeding inwardly, and I know of only one way to stop it.”

Katherine was well aware of the tension filling the room, of the rise of her heart rate, of the longing in his gaze, which surely matched her own. She realized she was tumbling over that cliff. And she didn’t care, quite content to drown in his aquamarine gaze.

“How can I stop it, George? Tell me.”

“I’d rather show you.”
