OnTheClock_600x900blurbWhen Blake Raleigh’s favorite rentboys retire from Market Garden, they’re sure their friend Jason will be a perfect replacement. Though Tristan and Jared are a tough act to follow, Blake returns to London to test out their recommendation.

Jason is right on the money. Negotiations turn him on. Getting paid turns him on. The higher the stakes, the hotter things get. Each trip to London is more expensive than the last, and the webcam sessions don’t run cheap, but Jason is well worth the sticker shock.

The more time they spend together, the more Blake wants, and not just sex and transactions. But Jason’s been burned before by men who thought they were in love with him, and he’s not making that mistake again. When the lines between personal and professional start to blur, it’s going to take more than money, jewelry, and sports cars to keep Jason from clocking out and walking away.

ATasteForPoison_200x300blurbEven a king gets stung when he reaches for a scorpion.

After barely surviving an assassination attempt, King Adrastes is a changed man—one who mistrusts even his allies and friends. He readies his empire for war against an enigmatic enemy, the Elder of Vededrin, but not everyone approves. While courtiers dare only to whisper dissent, an outrider called Death foments rebellion in the mountains, aided by a prophecy that promises he’ll stop the Black King.

Kendras—former lover to Adrastes and leader of the Scorpions—is sent with his elite mercenary force to bring Death to justice. But when Kendras learns who’s hiding behind the mask, he must choose between his lover Graukar, newly-appointed general to the king—and King Adrastes himself.

With no man to call master, the Scorpions could flee the danger and intrigue. But Kendras cannot abandon the man he once loved—or the man he’s growing to love—without first uncovering the real threat to the Empire. divider3

Blog Tour and #Giveaway: Belonging ’Verse by @RachelHaimowitz and @aleksandrvoinov ~ @RiptideBooks

Belonging_TourBanner

Welcome to the Belonging ’Verse re-release blog tour with Aleksandr Voinov and Rachel Haimowitz! We’re very excited to be bringing you edited second editions of our Belonging stories, Anchored and Counterpunch (in the case of Anchored, very edited, with over ten thousand new words and a completely different beginning and ending!), which are finally under the same roof and back in print after about a year out of circulation.

We’ll be touring for about two weeks, Aleks discussing his slave boxer and the barrister who tries to free him, and Rachel talking about her slave news anchor and the talk show host who covets him, and both of us discussing the world of Belonging at large—which, as you’ve probably guessed, is not a particularly pretty place. But good things can and do happen in this world, and we hope you’ll stick with us to find out what!

Speaking of good things, don’t forget to comment on this post for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Riptide store! Each new post you comment on earns you an entry into the drawing, so be sure to check out the rest of the tour schedule too!

AnchoredAbout Anchored:

Network news anchor Daniel Halstrom is at the top of his field, but being at the bottom of the social ladder—being a slave—makes that hard to enjoy. Especially when NewWorld Media, the company that’s owned him since childhood, decides to lease him privately on evenings and weekends to boost their flagging profits.

Daniel’s not stupid; he knows there’s only one reason someone would pay so much for what little free time he has. But dark memories of past sexual service leave him certain he won’t survive it again with his sanity intact.

He finds himself in the home of Carl Whitman, a talk show host whose words fail him when it comes to ordering Daniel into his bed. Carl can’t seem to take what he must want, and Daniel’s not willing to give it freely. His recalcitrance costs him dearly, but with patience and some hard-won understanding, affection just might flourish over fear and pain. Carl holds the power to be an anchor in Daniel’s turbulent life, but if he isn’t careful, he’ll end up the weight that sinks his slave for good.

About Counterpunch:Counterpunch

Fight like a man, or die like a slave.

Two years ago, Brooklyn Marshall was a happily married London policeman and amateur boxer with a promising future. Then he accidentally killed a rioter whose powerful father had him convicted of murder. To ease the burden on the prison system, the state sold Brooklyn into slavery. Now he’s the “Mean Machine,” competing on the slave prizefighting circuit for the entertainment of freemen, and being rented out for sexual service to his wealthier fans.

When barrister Nathaniel Bishop purchases Brooklyn’s services for a night, Brooklyn braces himself for yet another round of humiliation and pain. But the pair form an unexpected bond that grows into something more. Brooklyn hesitates to call it love—such feelings can’t truly exist between freemen and slaves—but when Nathaniel reveals that he wants to get Brooklyn’s conviction overturned, Brooklyn dares to hope.

Until an accident in the ring sends Brooklyn on the run, jeopardizing everything he’s worked so hard for. With the law on his tail and Nathaniel in his corner, he must prepare for the most important fight of his life: the fight for his freedom.

Fortunately, all those things make writing a lot more fun for her . . . if not so much for her characters.

When she’s not writing about hot guys getting it on (or just plain getting it; her characters rarely escape a story unscathed), she loves to read, hike, camp, sing, perform in community theater, and glue captions to cats. About Hostile Ground:

Enemy territory is a dangerous place to fall in love.

After the deaths of three undercover cops investigating a drug ring in a seedy strip club in Seattle, Detective Mahir Hussain has been sent to finish the job. He joins the club’s security team in the hopes of finding enough evidence to bust the operation before the men in charge find a reason to put him in a shallow grave.

To protect the strippers, only gay men can work the club. Ridley, the cold and intimidating head of security, knows exactly how to test potential new hires—including Mahir. From the minute they meet, Mahir and Ridley engage in a dangerous dance of sex and mind games. Mahir needs to find his evidence before Ridley figures out he’s a cop—and before they both grow too close to betray one another.

As the game goes on, Mahir burrows deeper into the operation, where he learns there’s much more happening than meets the eye . . . and why every cop who made it this far has been silenced with a bullet.

Hostile Ground is available May 12th from Riptide Publishing.

*Spotlight* City Mouse by Amy Lane & Aleksandr Voinov *Riptdie Publishing*

City Mouse
By: Amy Lane & Aleksandr Voinov
This title is #2 of the Country Mouse series.

A magical weekend, a breathless declaration, a happy ever after . . . Right?

Wrong.

When Malcolm Kavanagh took his first step toward emotional maturity by declaring his love to Owen Watson, that was just the first chapter in their story.  Anyone who’s ever been in love knows that happy endings take a lot more work than that.

One problem: Malcolm has never been in love. He doesn’t know the rules of a relationship and isn’t confident enough to trust that his is real. He learns the ropes by sharing his life and his flat with Owen, but relationship boot camp proves a challenge. Everything is a struggle, from accepting Owen’s low-status job to putting his boyfriend above his personal trainer.

Luckily, Owen knows a little more about relationships, and labors patiently to survive the first six weeks of their life together. From the art galleries of Cambridge to the tawdry majesty of the Dominion theatre, Owen adapts to England while Malcolm adapts to the whole human race. Maybe, if Owen is patient enough and Malcolm learns to give, the two of them can make it past Relationship Armageddon to a real happy ending.

For the past six months, Jared’s been selling sex at Market Garden, a London club that caters to the better-off. But business is slow in the run-up to Christmas, when businessmen and bankers are too busy bickering over bonuses to rent themselves a little high-class action.
Though Jared’s wallet finds the downtime unnerving, the rest of him rather enjoys the opportunity it gives him to admire Tristan, an old hand in the club whose reputation usually sees him well-booked. Jared has been crushing on Tristan for months—he’s no more immune to Tristan’s cockiness and confidence than the johns, and those are just Tristan’s inner qualities.
Just as Jared’s about to chat Tristan up, a businessman asks for something a little different: he wants to book them both. They agree—and Jared finds himself going from crush to mind-bending lust as he’s made the pawn in a sexual power game. Tristan shows him how a pro handles a john while delivering the top-shelf sex for which the Market Garden is so rightly renowned.

I received this book from Riptide for my honest thoughts… So here we go… Oh wait.. First…. Let me say this again…. My only warning is that this is a m/m loving story. So, if this is not your cup of tea… You will not offend me. You can merely just drop by to say Hi! Thanks for coming over in advance!

For those of you that know me… and those that don’t this is my little statement about short books…. I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that – short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer… but it is a short story. So with that said…. here is my review..

First, let me say that these are two amazing authors and to see them coming together to write this one hot, short story is a delicious treat! L.A. Witt knows how to make her men raw and passionate… Aleksandr know how to torture you and his men at the same time. Cleaver damn authors! They love killing you! Yes, that’s love in my voice for these two. They are wicked, I’m telling you. Wicked to the core and with this short story. They will leave you feeling tingles and seeking your own Jared and Tristan, lol.

Jared and Tristan are rent boys and damn well worth every freaking penny you have to give and some you have to steal.. Hell, I’m willing to beg, barter and steal, to have these two on my bed! Yes, they are that hot together!

If you want a little afternoon delight, you must get this story! It is hot, wicked, even funny in some spots and even torturous! Well done you two!

Oh and if you want to see me beg, go search my twitter tweets because L.A. Witt teased me to death about more to come… I will spank her to death if her and Alek don’t give me more of these two!! They deserve to each other – privately! 😉

************* OMG*************
I am so happy to say that there is another one in the making!!!

*Giveaway, Guest Post & Review* Incursion by Aleksandr Voinov *Riptide*

Ladies and Gents of the Hussy Lair, let’s put together a warm Hussy Smutty welcome for……

Aleksandr Voinov
*and his awesomeness! =)*

Incursion – by Aleksandr Voinov– Word Count ~25,600
Tour –  July 9-13

When the local authorities ask Kyle Juenger to hunt a shape-shifting Glyrinny spy, he can’t refuse. After all, he can use the reward to replace his paralyzed legs with cyberware, and maybe even to return to his home planet. Besides, he hates the morphs—those invasive, brain-eating monstrosities whose weapons cost him his legs.

Kyle’s best lead is the Scorpion, a mercenary ship armed to the teeth. Grimm, the Scorpion’s pilot and captain, fascinates Kyle. He’s everything Kyle lost with his legs, and he’s from the same home world. He’s also of the warrior caste—half priest, half savior. But Grimm’s been twisted by life as a merc, and Kyle’s stuck undercover as a criminal on the run.

That doesn’t stop Grimm from coming on to Kyle, or from insisting he’s more than the sum of his past and his useless legs. But Kyle has other concerns—like tracking a dangerous morph who could be wearing anyone’s face. And as if things weren’t complicated enough, Kyle can’t tell if Grimm is part of the solution… or part of the problem.

The Allure of the Space Opera

I’ll admit it. My first major exposure to science fiction was Star Trek. I followed that show religiously, and, as kids do, made up my own adventures or slightly twisted existing episodes and made them longer and cooler (and at times bloodier) in my head. We’re talking the old school Star Trek (what I believe is now called “Classic Star Trek”). It was that sense of wonder and adventure, all the cool stuff that happened, and I desperately wanted to be Spock. You just can’t beat him for sheer coolness.

Of course I also followed the various spin-offs and revamps. I loved the Borg. A collective machine/human hybrid intelligence that looked a bit like the Cenobites from Hellraiser, and my adolescent self also thought of the implications of all the latex and potential cyber-kink. Then Star Wars came along, and I liked the mythological dimension of that. As a fairy tale set in space, Star Wars is unbeatable.

As I grew more cynical, I managed to grab the tail end of the cyberpunk sub-genre (if you were really cynical, you could say we’re living in a cyberpunk world now), with its corporate politics and human augmentation and the idea overall that we can’t win for losing. Economic decline, a huge wealth gap between the 1% and the rest, corruption, media manipulation and banks hurling trillions around the globe without seemingly being accountable to anybody. Riots on the streets of London, burning shop front, and public suicides to protest austerity packages. Damn, I like me some cyberpunk.

But what I really enjoy is new worlds and concepts, and I think my favourite story of them all is Dune by Frank Herbert, a book that won the Hugo in 1966, nine years before I was even born. I was entranced by its world building and ideas, from the vast scope of space and time to the Bene Gesserit’s litany against fear, which every self-respecting sci-fi geek has learned by heart:

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Even though the homophobia of Frank Herbert troubled me a great deal, the work itself to me still belongs to the very best of space opera. I’d never dream of occupying the same shelf as Herbert (or William Gibson), but I’m trying to give my writing the same sense of history and depth (though I’m not nearly as good at world-building). Even in a fictional dream, things have a history and a larger picture, and Dune taught me that. Whenever I look at my own work, I glance back at my space opera favourites and remember that sense of wonder, that slack-jawed awe that I felt when I discovered one of my favourites, and he very thing I’m looking for when I pick up a new sci-fi book.

In “Incursion”, I enjoyed the scale of the setting. There’s the Commonwealth, a human-run political entity currently under threat from a totalitarian military society (the Doctrine), and, if the situation weren’t tense enough, I threw aliens into the mix—shapechangers that have only recently appeared and nobody knows what they want or what they are capable of. The stakes are high—unknowable alien spies threaten from the inside (and you can never know what they look like), while a militarily superior foes is just waiting for the best moment to make its move. While we don’t see that the Doctrine is getting ready to conquer the Commonwealth, the fact that it’s there and threatening lends a sense of urgency and tension to the story.

And then we come back to what I love about space opera. Often in space opera, one heroic (or anti-heroic) character can make a huge difference. The big dramatic questions can come down to one man. In Incursion, that’s Kyle Juenger, an outsider, an ex-pilot on social welfare, a disabled man battling cynicism and thoughts of suicide. He’s tough, but he’s in a bad situation, but he dares to hope that catching the shapeshifting spy will turn his life around.

And it does. Just not quite as expected.

BLURB:

Fighting with your back to the wall is all well and good—as long as you’ve chosen the right wall.
And as if things weren’t complicated enough, Kyle can’t tell if Grimm is part of the solution… or part of the problem.

My Review:::

I am an avid reader of Aleksandr’s work. He intrigues me at every turn, lures me with every character and entices me with every moment of lust he pours on those pages. He will wrap you up in his stories and not let you go till the very last page… And that’s only if he wants to be nice…

This story is different than most of the stories I have read by Aleksandr… This one is a sci-fi story… Which I have to say intrigued me to read…

This is a short story, so there is not much that I am going to tell you to give it away… But I will tell you that this story will keep you guessing until the last page. The story will keep you in suspense, it will keep you wondering who’s who or who’s what…

Kyle and Grimm’s story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Now the only thing will be to see if there will be more to come from Kyle and Grimm. Because I am sure we have not heard the last from them and their adventure… In fact, I am pretty sure they will have more to come because come to think of it…. I am not sure if Kyle finished his mission…. Which was to bring in his “fugitive.” Hummm… In fact his mission took a detour when he met Grimm and his crew… But the real question is… Will Grimm piece together Kyle to make him feel whole again… Or will things go downhill fast when Kyle finds out exactly what Grimm is….

And remember… Always keep it Dirty, Smutty & Hussy! Photobucket

Book Review: Country Mouse by Amy Lane & Aleksandr Voinov *Riptide Publishing*

Country Mouse
Author:
Amy Lane
Aleksandr Voinov
Country Mouse by Amy Lane and Aleksandr Voinov

Owen may be a bit of a country mouse, but he’s loving his vacation in London. After a long day playing tourist, he’s on the hunt for some cheap beer and a good burger. Instead he finds a man hunting him, an arrogant prick with only one thing on the brain: the kind of meat that doesn’t come on a bun.

Eighty-hour weeks at a trading desk don’t leave Malcolm Kavanagh much time for meaningful relationships. Besides, in his world, everything’s a competition—even sex. When his newest one-night-sub fails to show, Malcolm sets his sights on the pretty young Yank on the bar stool beside him.

Owen’s all for an adventure with a native, but he’s not the pushover Malcolm thinks he is, and Malcolm’s not as shallow as he tries to be. They both soon learn that nothing’s too intimate to share with a stranger, and the strangest things happen when two people share the most important pieces of their hearts.

I obtained the above information from Riptide Publishing website.

So with that said…. here is my review…

I am just warning you…. This is a review about m/m reading. So, if this is not your cup of tea… just drop a line and say hi!! If this… then keep reading!

Now with my warning out the way, we will continue the review… Amy & Aleksandr combined work is a very intriguing tale of two men who live worlds apart but come together for an explosive weekend. I am not sure how combining writing minds work… Like who writes what, who develops what character, but what I can tell you is it worked for these two. This story is smooth, passionate, and all things great!

My thoughts on this story is that it is well developed for a short story. I have heard through the grapevine that there is sequel coming out and I CAN NOT WAIT! This tale is filled with uncertainty but understanding. Let’s meet two men who live in two completely different worlds and see how they collide!

Owen is a man who takes life as it comes… He knows life is not always going to go his way, but he makes the best of what comes his way. He has had his heart broken a time or two,but has remained friends with his past interlude. In fact he agreed to take a trip to London with an ex… Because she wanted to go! Now what that tells you… Owen wasn’t sure what or who he was was looking for, he just knew that having an aboard fling would be better than sitting in the piss poor excuse for a bar that he sat in. He wasn’t looking for love but he wouldn’t knock it away either. But when Owen saw Malcolm, he wasn’t sure what he was going to get….

Malcolm wasn’t looking for anything other than a one night stand, if that. He is so round tight from his day job working in the trade market. He was tried and had enough of hiding. He has an image to uphold at work, he has an image to uphold on the scene… but behind close doors.. He wanted things he did not even know he wanted.. Until he spotted a man in a bar… Drinking some Gawd awful drink…

These two meet on a night where anything is game… You wanna see what happens… Why don’t get you the book! Because believe me… The ending had me almost in tears! I could not believe what Malcolm was doing… To see a man come from one point in his life… to see him go where he never thought he would go himself…. So…. I will leave you with this… GO get it! The story is hot, sweet, adorable and just plain sexy!!!

And remember… Always keep it Dirty, Smutty & Hussy! Photobucket

Now, I am pleased to welcome Amy Lane and Aleksandr Voinov to the lair to talk about their book!

While Amy and I did share the characters and so it’s not completely clear-cut who wrote which character, I guess I can’t deny that Malcolm in Country Mouse is more “my” character.

For a long time, I’ve had a fascination with City boys. I was a financial journalist for about four years and have encountered a number of pretty colourful people. The banker who invited me to his private club for an interview and just waved at the bartender to put our drinks on his tab (the place had a huge flatscreen running sports at half past eight in the morning, wood panelling and antique furniture); the corporate lawyer who spoke of sleeping under his desk the night before the deal was finalized and shaving on the office toilet; the financial investor who, without a hint of irony, called himself a “master of the universe” (this was pre-2008/9, when all his deals exploded).

There’s something about that ego and brashness that I find fascinating. Many of these people are charming and draw you in. For a while, you believe you are inhabiting their world – then they casually drop a mention of their yacht or jet or owning a place on the Maledives, and you realize in their world you’re just a peon.

So, big egos, big numbers, big paycheques and generally a totally different world. As a journalist I resolved two things: one – I can only get their life if I accept it has very little to do with my life, and two – in order to achieve their positions, they have to be a certain type. Extremely smart, extremely hard-working, and they sacrificed a great deal to get where they were when I interviewed them. Family life. Hobbies. Hell, even sleeping in. There’s this saying in investment banking – and I borrowed it for Malcolm – that there’s an unspoken deal: You give the bank the ten best years of your life, and in return, you walk away with a few million in the pocket.

Obviously, with the crisis and all, nothing is quite as casual and clear-cut as it was. For one, bankers (or “banksters”, as the media used to call them) are now almost as dirty as serial killers. They did sink the economy, after all. And I bet the guys I talked to – if they still have jobs, because many don’t, some retired, others changed careers, like the senior banker I met in Germany one evening, who is now helping his father run his transportation company – I bet they are genuinely hurt by the bad press. Also, their bonuses have been cut. Some made very little money (by their standards – normal mortals can’t dream of six-figure bonuses – but if you’re used to seven figures and were “banking” on it, I bet that grates).

What I’m saying is – all the brash and ego I encountered can’t disguise that I really liked some of those
people. It also doesn’t disguise that they made a deal with the devil. Ten years of your life for a few millions and financial security. Since none of us really knows how many years we have to spend, I always figured it’s a risky proposition at best, and if the devil gave me the same choice, I likely wouldn’t take that offer. (It would mean ten years of not writing and sacrificing everything else, too). Now, there’s an idea for a story – the Devil and the Banker.

But yeah, that’s at the heart of Malcolm. Here’s a financial guy who suddenly realized that, hey, stop, his life’s on autopilot and there are Other Things out there he could do. Have a relationship, hobbies, a personal life – what an outrageous idea.

*Blog Tour* Dark Souls Vol 5 by Aleksandr Voinov *Riptide Publishing*

Dark Soul: “Girl bits” in m/m

I’ve just finished “Dark Soul”, my mafia series. To be honest, when I started it, it was for the kink. For a long time, I’ve been fascinated by criminal organizations, and especially the mafia/Cosa Nostra. It’s the macho culture and homophobia, which makes life for gay or bisexual men really dangerous. Danger means conflict, and conflict is story.

When I started, I wanted to explore a number of kinks. Silvio Spadaro, my oldest character of them all, has always been a kinky (and very sexy) bastard. He was kinky before I, the author, understood what kink was. From the outset, I knew he’d lead a “straight” man into temptation. Stefano Marino, the boss of that local crime family, is a good-looking man in his early thirties, and at that age, he’s been married for a few years. What I honestly did not expect was the amount of resistance Stefano put up when fighting his attraction to Silvio. Because that’s the rule of m/m romance, isn’t it? If the other man in the main relationship is married, the author best get rid of the woman. So didn’t spend too much time on Stefano’s wife Donata. For most the first three books, we see her mainly as sex kitten, a very good-looking wife whom Stefano loves. She doesn’t get much screen time, because I was driving the relationship between Silvio and Stefano.

However, when things start to go very wrong for Stefano, Donata is there and supports him. She holds herself with dignity and grace, even when she’s convinced Stefano is having an affair. That was the point when I sat back and realized that my original plans to get her out of the picture wouldn’t work. Many m/m writers turn the women in their protagonist’s lives into total bitches, or kill them in some way (ideally leaving a newborn baby that the two men can then take care of). In my mind’s eye, I looked at this strong, loyal, graceful woman and suddenly, utterly, understood why Stefano loves her. She’s worthy of his love. She’s a worthy wife, a worthy ally. Stefano kept calling her his first, best ally. I realized he was right. I did love her, too.

So, Stefano, torn between Silvio and Donata, has to admit he loves both of them, wants them both, and even though he would most likely have chosen Donata if absolutely forced (and hating her a little for forcing him), it’s Donata’s generosity that takes that choice off the table. She understands that Silvio is not just a plaything, that her husband is truly capable of loving two people at the same time. And she makes him a huge gift: total acceptance, as hard as it is. She stands by him against the law, against the antagonist who tries to break him with his “little dirty secret”, and tells those people to get lost.

While I was writing Dark Soul 5, I knew I’d be losing readers over this. I broke one of the Cardinal Rules of m/m. There’s even an explicit sex scene between the two men and the woman that cements the new understanding between the characters.

Donata confesses she almost fell in love with a girl and is up for girl-on-girl action too, so all these characters are bisexual to some degree or other (with Silvio leaning more towards gay, but not completely 100% adamantly gay), which enables them to love people, not genitals (much as this author falls in love with a person, regardless of their gender). I think that’s a very human, very generous, very natural thing to do; to not judge a person worthy of love based on their gender, but just see them as people. And if people are happy and everybody agrees (and the characters in Dark Soul do), in my mind they can find whatever solution works for them.

It’s sad that this will lose me many readers (I already got emails saying “WFT were you thinking?! Girl bits in my M/M!?”). What’s worse, Dark Soul will, for this reason, not get reviewed at some of the biggest blogs out there, but I do believe that bisexual characters (and authors, and all other people) have a right to solve their problems in a way that works for them, not what other people expect. That’s the only way I know how to tell a story; tell the truth of characters, and consequences pretty much damned.

Please see my older post to see my reviews of all these books!! This is a great series!!!
