Review: Shades of Moonlight by Stephanie Julian *Ellora’s Cave*

Book six in the Lucani Lovers series
Wolf shifter Race Aragon knows Mara Marrucini is meant to be his, in bed and out. And he’s not about to let anyone or anything get in his way of protecting her and her baby. She’d been the prisoner of a madman and has the emotional scars to prove it. Now that she’s free, he’s going to make damn sure she gets to live her life—with him at her side.Mara adores Race. He’s the first man to make her feel like a woman. To make her feel protected. His touch ignites her desire but she fears for his safety. Her presence in his life puts him in the crosshairs.
But with her son’s life on the line, Mara trusts no one but Race to keep them both safe. And to care for her heart—always.

For those of you that know me… and those that don’t this is my little statement about short books…. I do  not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that – short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer… but it is a short story. So with that said…. here is my review…

First, let me say that I have followed this series all the way through and get more involved as each story is told.  Stephanie has created a world so deep that you will hear the crickets chirp in the woods, she has given so much detail to every aspect of each character and this story is no different.
Now, this is a short story so my review won’t give much away because I truly think you should read this series. I can’t say with a 100% heart that you could read this book out of order or alone. Don’t get me wrong, Stephanie does make sure to tell you who and what has been going on so you aren’t lost, but knowing the whole family on a one on one basis is better than just getting a glance into their lives.
Race has always been the elusive one… The one that doesn’t give you much to work with but oh my goddess is this man – ALL man! And wolf too 😉 He knows his position in the pack and he knows that above all else, family comes first. So when he requests to become protector of a woman and her baby – he is overcome with a sense of possessiveness that he is not sure how to handle… But one thing is for sure; baby and mama have this big hunk of a man wrapped around their little finger…
Mara has been through hell and back. I mean, really. My heart goes out to her from all that she has survived. Not to mention that she escaped unharmed and her baby was delivered into this world knowing love. Mara doesn’t trust easily – hell she doesn’t trust at all, but she’s learning that she has too…. But one man, without a doubt, she trusts – Race.  She is trying to understand more of her world everyday; but understanding it and living it are two different things, things Mara is learning how to deal with. But with a man like Race by her side, she knows she can face the world… Together. A word that she is not sure she likes…
These two are tying this story together very nicely… The more you read, the more you understand the coming war and the importance of taking care of your own kind. Mara and Race aren’t the only ones in this fight but they are missing pieces to the puzzle…. Together, they will find out things that maybe… Just will be the undoing of them… Before they even get started. Can walls come down? Can love really make the world change? Will these two find out what the meaning of “having your back” really means? If you want to know, you will have to read!

Ms. Stephanie Julian
Do you believe in magic?
I do. I believe there are people who can tap into powers far greater than what we understand or realize are out there.
There’s an allure about magic that has made people fear and crave it for thousands of years. And if time travel were possible (the jury’s still out on that one), people who traveled forward in time from only three hundred years ago would think electricity was magic.
In Italian folklore, witches are called streghe. Throughout history, they’ve been regarded with equal amounts of fear and respect. Streghe were considered the wise women of the village. They dispensed healing potions and spells and generally took care of the villagers.
I became fascinated with the concept when I started researching magic several years ago to start this story.
I knew I wanted to write a story about witches and the legends of the streghe and Italian folk magic fit my needs perfectly. Besides, my dad’s family is Italian and I wanted to tap into that heritage.
I also knew I wanted the story to be contemporary (really not a historical writer) but where’s the conflict? They no longer burn witches at the stake, which is a good thing. Then I got this dead about a curse. Cursed witches. I could work with that.
I love research and got to indulge myself in so many books about the craft and spells and herbs and crystals and I took all of what I learned and wove it into SPELL BOUND.
She’s running from fate…
Shea Tedaldi is the only thing standing between her six-year-old brother and the men who killed their parents. Descendants of the ancient Etruscan magical race, Shea and her brother keep powerful secrets that make them the targets of the evil Malandante. They’ve been looking for a safe haven but the bad guys are gaining on them and Shea needs a hero, a guardian who won’t falter in the face of danger…
He’s looking for the key to break the spell…
Gabriel Borelli is a warrior born to protect the Etruscan witches living under a curse. He’s dedicated to breaking the spell and avenging the murder of his father by the Malandante. He won’t let anything—or anyone—get in his way. Not even the one woman who may hold the key to his quest…and his heart.

Excerpt:
“Hey, Leo. You want to help me with a spell?”
Pulling out of her arms, he looked up at her, eyes bright as he nodded.
She smiled, trying to look excited. And confident. Yeah, right. “Alright, bud. You sit here for a sec.” She pointed to the space in front of the altar then grabbed her backpack from beside the bed and pulled out their mom’s grimoire.
She paged past spells to cure warts and heartburn, spells to induce comas and even one titled Love Potion. She’d had a few private laughs over that one.
But now… There it was, near the back. Concealment Spell.
Glancing through, it didn’t look that difficult, and she had all of the ingredients they needed on the altar. Of course, nothing ever looked difficult until you were ass-deep in frogs, as her dad used to say.
Oh, Daddy…
Shaking off those thoughts, she grabbed what she needed and sat in front of Leo, placing the abalone moon bowl between them.
“Okay, bud. Let’s do this.”
In the bottom of the bowl, she placed the bloodstone and sprinkled dried heliotrope over it.
With the grimoire on her lap, she held out her hands and waited for Leo to place his in hers. She’d been teaching Leo as much as she could about spell casting. Which wasn’t as much as it should have been.
She’d been a lousy student, which was why she hadn’t attempted this spell before. It took a lot of power and an equal amount of control. And she didn’t have much of either.
She closed her eyes, knowing Leo would follow her lead.
“Great Goddess Uni, Mother of all, protector of the Etruscans. We, your children, beseech Your aid.”
Their hands warmed as power built between them, causing goosebumps to coat her arms. Lowering their hands, she wrapped Leo’s around the edge of the bowl, then did the same with her own, funneling the power into the bowl and the bloodstone.
“Danger follows us. Evil tracks us. Bless us, Great Goddess, with a veil to hide us from those who seek us and mean us harm. We beg You to answer our plea.”
The bowl shook beneath their hands, rattling against the floor, making the moonstone dance like a Mexican jumping bean in the bottom.
Shit, that was so not good. They were drawing too much power. She wouldn’t be able to contain it for much longer.
Please, Goddess, just long enough to charge the stone.
“For your aid, we thank you, Uni, Lady of the Sky, the Earth and the Water.”
Okay, time to release the spell into the stone.
“Leo, let go of the bowl. Slowly, bud.”
He did it perfectly, sliding his palms then his fingertips from the lip of the bowl until he was no longer touching. As if he’d been casting for years. He probably had been. Her mom had started her training when she was four.
The bowl continued to rattle.
Shit. This is gonna hurt no matter what—
Sharp pain sliced into her temples right before the power blew her across the room. Pain shot up her spine as her back hit the wall, milliseconds before her head connected.
Yeah, that was going to leave a mark.

So with that said…. here is my review…

I was given this book for my honest thoughts and words… So here goes…

If you come to my place often, you know I am not a newbie to Ms. Stephanie Julian writing. This woman can create worlds that make you want to fall in… and never surface. She wraps you around in the blanket of mystery, a cloak of suspense. She charms you into the heart of her character, she will cast you in a spell of desire, and weave a web of a hell’va story….

Now first, I need to let you in on something… I have read Ms. Julian’s other stories where there was Boschetta, Goddess Gifts, Lucani, Stega, Versipellis, Mal, Etruscan witches and creatures like that… I know the lingo, I know the vocabulary… So… if you have not read a book of this world…. You will be a bit lost in the beginning. But I promise, hang on and keep reading because this world will enchant you… maybe even bewitch you… So, bear with the confusion for a bit… because I promise you it is well worth the ride!

Ms. Stephanie did an awesome job at capturing me in a world that had me having dreams of my own when I closed my eyes and went to sleep. Her world captured me so much I could not put it down….

Shea is a woman I want on my good side. That is if she stayed in one place long enough. She is on the run and on the run for good reasons… Someone or should I say someone(s) is/are after her and her brother… They are deadly, they are powerful and they want her brother… But Shea has no one to turn to… No parents she can run to for protection. No friends to trust long enough to feel safe. I truly admire Shea for what life has dealt her. She does not fall down and play victim. She picks herself up and dust herself off.
Shea is a woman hell bent on saving and protecting her brother – no matter the cost. She knows she is different, but how different she truly does not know. Not until….

Gabriel is a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was born to serve and protect, he was born to never fail… But with a five hundred curse on his ass, well… any man would be kinda scare to fail. But that all changed when the one mission he cannot fail at walks up to him and ask him for help. Help of which he refuses…. Only due to his own stubbornness, but what struck him the most was the mission, Shea, did not take any crap from him. Gabriel is a man you do not want to reckon with… Well, maybe in bed. Hint hint… You will want to read about this one! But what happens when the mission… is no longer protecting and serving the people you are sworn to… But when you are trying to protect your heart… and the mission comes to mean saving your world… What will Gabriel do…

This is truly a wonderful start to an amazing story to come… Ms. Stephanie’s craftsmanship at creating a world in which you will fall will leave you enthralled. Can’t wait for more to come of this series.

Review: Grace in Moonlight by Stephanie Julian

Grace in Moonlight

Fifth in the
Lucani Lovers series

Kaisie Giliati is the lucani king’s best tracker. He’s used to hunting and capturing his prey with little resistance. He’s also old enough to know exactly what he wants, and the feisty redhead who stirs him like no other is at the top of his list. Too bad she’s the enemy and seemingly impervious to his charms.

Grace Bellasario has a target on her back, two children to protect from their evil father and she’s in love for the first time in her life. With a man who should hate her—a man she has no business craving. But does she ever. Grace doesn’t have a chance in hell of shaking Kaisie off her tail. Now he just needs to keep her alive to live happily ever after…

I obtained the above information from Ms. Julia’s website.

I was given this book for an honest review and my honest thoughts, so here goes…

Ms. Stephanie is not a new to me author and neither is this series. I have to be bluntly honest with you though ~ this series freaking rocks apples! Ms. Stephanie did it again with yet another freaking fantastic story. She dragged me in and did not let go of me till the last page. And really, even then she made me drool with anticipation for the next story. I promise you, she will make you hunger for this Lucani family.

What I enjoy most about this series is that Ms. Stephanie brings everyone back together. She makes sure the whole family is included in everyone’s story.; but doesn’t overwolf (ha ha ~ instead of overbear) you with them either. But I love how she devotes enough attention to her main characters as possible. After all, family is everything… Just as Grace.

Grace is a dedicated mother and a fighter till the end. She has done all she could possibly think to do to save her son Alex from an illness no one can diagnose. She even kidnapped a Lucani and her mate for their blood. Then to know that her daughter has been kept from her from birth by her evil and twisted ex… She did try to right her wrongs but no one faulted her for trying to save her son or saving her daughter…

Not even Kaisie, who lives and breaths to protect his family. So much so, he had his pack raise his daughter while he tracked those that wanted to harm his pack. Just call it a days worth of work for him. He is the best tracker his pack has and he works hand in hand with the King. Kaisie is not a man to mess with… Until Grace lights a fire under his ass and really gets him going.

The chemistry between these two is just amazing. Grace is a woman to admire for her backbone and determination. Also, not to mention her attitude when it comes to protecting her family. But put these two together and watch the fireworks explode.

But chemistry alone did not carry this story… Nope. The struggle Grace had to endure to get her children back will really pull at your heart strings. Just think of an evil ex having your children… Knowing that he is putting evil thoughts in their mind… What would you do to get your children back? Well, read Grace’s story to find out what happens. Because believe me, you will be cheering her along her fight to get them back.

My Julian did an awesome job at telling Grace’s story with style because when you read about Grace’s story – you will not believe the things she has done but what you won’t forget is the way she was forgiven for. Ms. Stephanie has taken us away on yet another journey that is truly remarkable… Maybe one of the most memorable yet.

This series totally rocks. You do not haveeeee to pick up the first book to “get” this series (but for those OCD people like me ~ you will want too). That is what is great about this series, you can pick up any book. I promise you won’t regret it. Allow yourself to be taken away into the world of the hottest pack you will want to know. Can’t wait for the next one Ms. Stephanie!! Hint hint…..

If you want to find out more information on Ms. Stephanie’s Lucani Series, I implore you to go to her website and found out more!!! They are some freaking hot men in there!!

And remember… Keep it Dirty, Smutty & Hussy!

Review: Moonlight Temptation by Stephanie Julian

Moonlight Temptation

Fourth in the Lucani Lovers series

Evie Simmons has magical powers she can’t control and her best friend is a 17-year-old werewolf. Add in the sexy shifter she can’t keep out of her mind and his hot-as-hell friend and it’s a recipe for disaster. Dr. Dane Dimitriou knows Evie has had a hard time adjusting to her new life in Etruscan magical community—almost as difficult as his denial of his feelings for her have been. And he’s got the perfect cure—his best friend. Easygoing Ryan Maguire is the opposite of stick-up-his-ass Dane. He can act as a buffer. Dane can get close, but not too close. Yeah, right. These sexy men may be just what the doctor ordered for Evie.

I obtained the above information from Ms. Julian’s website.
And I was also given this book from the author to review for my honest thoughts!
So here we go…

For those of you that know me… and those that don’t this is my little statement about short books…. I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that – short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer… but it is a short story. So with that said…. here is my review…

Oh wow…. Oh wow… This is one fire explosive story. Ms. Julian did it yet again with another hot story. She has a way with her craft and she uses it well. This woman has wrapped me up in a story that I hope will not stop. She allows terminology to flow through the book (so you are not stopping to check out what that means) and she treats us to characters of the past and invites new ones into the world of the Lucani family.
Evie has a seriously crappy past… We met her in the past books; but you won’t be left out if you did not read them. (That is another great job by Ms. Julian ~ never leaves you feeling like you are missing something) Evie has a heart the size of Texas. Okay, as long as you get my point there. Evie was kidnapped and used for her blood. Yes, you read that right… they syphoned blood from her and was basically keeping her alive to produce her blood. Her blood is the secret ingredient to one little boy’s life. But once freed, you would think that she would want nothing to do with the little boy or his mother (the one that kidnapped her). But… That is where Evie will surprise you… Now, there is another matter at hand… Her heart and her powers…
Will Evie’s heart allow her to accept what two people are willing to give her or will her uncertainty over her powers cause her to go up in smoke?
Dane has one major stick up his ass… And sometimes all it takes is his best friend Ryan to remind him to pull out and stop acting like the ass Ryan’s knows him not to be. Dane is set on finding a cure for the disease that seems to be plaguing the Lucanis. The same disease that took his father from him. But what will it cost him? When all else fails, he ask his best friend to step in for him and help him out… But what if what Ryan wants threatens to consume the both of them to the fiery pits of Evie?
This is one story that heat up your sheets and catch your heart ablaze! This book will leave you hot and possibly other things you might not want me to mention and for sure… she will leave you drooling over the hot alpha males and their best friend… And she will definitely leave you hanging on to what is to come in the future. Awesome job Ms. Julian!!!

Review: Edge of Moonlight by Stephanie Julian

Edge of Moonlight

third in the Lucani Lovers series

Etruscan wolf shifter Kaine Giliati has longed for John Simmons since he willingly agreed to wipe all memory of her from his mind. The pain in her heart is only magnified by terror—the ability to call her wolf appears to have deserted her, as well.

For months after he and his sister escaped a crazed kidnapper, John has been dreaming about a beautiful woman he’s never met but who seems so familiar. A woman he’s shocked to find in a dark bar one night. A woman who agrees to come back to his apartment for raw, passionate sex.

One erotic, stolen night reopens old wounds, uncovers buried memories and sets Kaine and John on a path filled with danger, magic and potential heartbreak.

I obtained the above information from Ms. Julian’s website.

I was asked to review this book by the author ~ all thoughts expressed here are my own.

I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that – short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer… but it is a short story. So with that said….

Kaine and John’s story…

This story is leaving off right where Moonlight Menage left off…

Nic and Duke’s partner, Kaine, was injured while trying to save/protect two eteri’s *humans* from the deranged red headed villain. The one thing that she could not protect was her heart. Falling for John was not the wisest or smartest decision she ever made. But can you stop a heart from falling in love??

John was just trying to protect his sister; from what or who he had no idea. He just knew that he needed to protect her. But being caged like an animal and drugged was no help to her. Then a wolf entered the picture and tried to rescue him and his sister. Only the wolf is a woman.. After the ordeal was over, John and his sister insisted to have their memory erased of all that happened with Kaine and her family. No memory was better than the memories ~ or was it?

Kaine is my favorite kinda woman… bad ass: kick ass now, ask questions later kinda of woman. She does not take crap from anyone. Her job requires her to not take it from anyone. She works along side the elite of her clan. A team of assassins; working strictly for their King. So whatever you do, do not piss her off. But this is where my love for her grows, on the other hand, she is simply a woman at heart. She craves love just like the rest of us; her problem is that the love she craves is from someone she should not love. There is a pull about John that she cannot shake. No matter if his has no memory of her, no matter if he has up and left with his sister and never wanted to be found again. She is a born tracker, she could find him easily if she wanted too. But she has orders to stay away. She heeded those orders.

But there is always a straw that broke the camels back… We all have had days like this. Kaine, a born Lucani (wolf) ~ “skin shifter”, could not shift anymore. After the first incident with John, she could not shift. That is like telling her she could not breath. That cut Kaine deep, so deep ~ she had to seek out help. At least that is what her intentions were. Until she learned more screwed up information. Not only could she not love the man she wanted to love, his memory wiped clean of her – by his choice, she could not shift, she also learned that she was not who she thought she was, learned that her mother abandoned her to her father and died not long after that and she discovered that she picked up a new power… You wanna talk about a day from hell.

A drink.. that was what the day called for. Just a drink.. or two.. or three… just enough to allow all this to go away is what Kaine thought. She headed down to the bar to escape for a little while…

John was having the worst days of his life. His sister is scare of her own shadow, they are on the run and he has no clue from who or what, he keeps having these freaking hot ass dreams of this woman who will not escape his mind, he has to get a job that he does not want and his sister is close to having a meltdown from all the weird stuff that is happening to her. Being an ex Navy Seal, you think he could protect her right. I think that pisses him off even more. There is nothing he could do to bring his sister back to life, the life she had before the kidnapping. Day from hell… you think… A drink.. One drink.. and a shot of something strong.

One bar, one drink (okay, maybe two or three), two world collide and nothing good can come of it. One remembers everything, one cannot remember anything… John knows he has seen this woman before; he just knows it in his gut and deep in his soul. He has to know…”Have I met you before?”

Only in Kaine dreams would John remember her. But here he stands – live in the flesh asking her if they have ever met. Should she just blow him off… or…. take what is being offered. One night.. one chance to touch, to kiss, to caress, to be with him… One night and walk away. Sounds easy, right??

This is a very intriguing tale of two people who loves has to really conquer all. Ms. Julian does an awesome job at delivering the most erotic, hot, delicious scenes possible. She is keeping to the root of the story (imo) ~ family. That is the heart of these stories. I mean, each character finding his/her love/mate is the storyline… but family is key here. Their community is very tight knit. And that is one factor that I love about this series. I absolutely love that about Ms. Julian’s writing style. They don’t just pop in and out of the story… they are weaved in a way that you know they are there for each other ~ through thick and thin.

Okay, my only peeve is I NEED more information on the villan. That is my only problem with this series so far… I want more info on the bad ass woman that keeps kidnapping people. Other than that.. this is another scorcher of a story from Ms. Julia.

I started this story at 10 o’clock Sunday night and finished it at 2 in the morning Monday! Yeah, it is that good… and of course you just have to know what happens… Awesome job Ms. Julian!!! And of course she left us hanging for the next one… And I will bug her till I have that one in my
hands, lol!!!

Review: Moonlight Menage by Stephanie Julian

Moonlight Ménage
second in the Lucani Lovers series
Book Length: Novel

Book Type: eBook

Publisher: Ellora’s Cave Publishing

For eight years, Etruscan witch Tira Belludi has longed to give herself, body and soul, to the two shifter men who hold her heart. But visions of death and fears for her sanity have forced her to keep her distance.
Nic Rocca and Duke Ducati are brothers in everything but blood and partners who have each other’s backs. They share a home, a job and had planned to share their life with Tira between them…until the night she saw their future and built a fortress around her heart.
Now danger and death stalk Nic and Duke. And Tira must make a choice—grab love while she has the chance or watch Nic die from afar and lose Duke forever.
Some of this information was obtained from Stephanie Julian’s site (here) and some from Ellora Cave’s site (here).

Tira has the gift to see the future, it is a gift that is passed down in her family. Tira’s “visions” come from skin on skin contact and it is nothing she can control (at the moment). So imagine those hugs you share or hand shakes you pass daily; is it a gift or is it a curse?

A little back history: At the age of 15, Tira was smitten with not one, but two strapping young men, Nic and Duke. At the age of 18 yrs old, they were consider men by the colony. They knew they had to wait till Tira became of age to have her; so, they bidded their time. Time paid off and Tira was finally able to be with them. Remember the skin to skin contact… remember gift or curse…

Once they are able to be together… a touch that was supposed to be shared between lovers, what their dreams were made of turned into a living nightmare. Tira caught a glimpse of a deadly vision that included her men. After that one touch, she pushed both of them away and put up a wall. Does she want them, hell yes. Do they want her, double hell yes. But with such a strong vision as what she saw, she refuses to be the reason for one of her lover’s death. How do you live with the two men you love when you can only touch one lover but not the other. Touching one of the men was like a slice of heaven but the other… was just asking for the nightmare to relive itself over and over.

The book picks up where eight years have passed. Tira’s heart breaks from afar to just touch Nic and she has a love/hate relationship with Duke. Nic being the one she can not touch, Duke just assumes he is the stand in for Nic. These men are total opposites of each other. Nic is the charmer and Duke is the silent type. So the love/hate relationship that Tira and Duke share is very pressing on the nerves.

The main thing I love about this story is how it shows what determined love can do. Tira is close to allowing her gift of seeing the future really ruin her future. She has two men who absolutely adore her and would do anything for her and she is lets time slip away because of the vision. This story is a very passionate story. The love of three people, the courage of one woman and the determination of two men to keep what is there – no matter what the cost is.

Nic gets hurt while in his line of duty and plays the pity card to her knowing that she can not resist him. Nic asks her to come back home with the both of them to take care of him. The men are also fed up with the pushing away and the walls that Tira has done over the years. Everyone is saying screw the vision… we want our relationship! But believe me it is a fight to the death for this relationship to survive.

We see all the characters come back in the story and that is another thing I love about Ms. Julian’s writing style. This story is about family and Ms. Julian keeps it that way. It picks up right where Kiss of Moonlight left off. This story is awesome and again, the action high, the love scorching and the sex off the charts. Omg is all i can!!!!!!! You better get your glass of ice – not water just ice and a box fan handy (and maybe your hubs or s/o) close by you will need them. These stories can almost be read in a day (depending on what you do for your day job..)
These stories just keep getting better and better!

Some people believe that all things are destine to be as they are. Some people believe they are responsible for their actions and future. Some people believe that things are already all mapped out for them… All these things are true to a point… But I believe we all have choices in life.. what we do with choices will lead you down the next path of life…

Tira finally grew a pair and took matters in her own hands and made the life she wanted… But at what cost does one get what she truly wants… Will Tira get the sweet dreams of her two men… or will she get the nightmares of her visions… To find out you will have to read it!!!!

I am fixing to start the third one… The newly released: Edge of Moonlight!
Be on the lookout for that review coming soon!!!!

Review: Kiss of Moonlight by Stephanie Julian

Kiss of Moonlight
first in the Lucani Lovers series

Book Length: Novel

Book Type: eBook

Publisher: Ellora’s Cave Publishing

Plagued by nightmares. Stalked by kidnappers. Tamra McMillan needs a safe haven. When tattooed bad-ass Kyle Rossini steps into her life, the last thing she expects to find is a sanctuary from her demons or steaming hot sex. Everything about him screams danger. But appearances can be deceiving. The tender possessiveness of his touch, the hunger in his eyes, the scorching sensuality of his kiss—all of it sears him into her soul and brands her as his for life.
But otherworldly forces are afoot and death hovers…
Etruscan werewolf Kyle is a loner. The king’s assassin with a killer’s instincts. The last thing he needs is a mate who could be placed in danger because of him. Until he meets the one woman who needs him more than he needs his solitude. When Tamra, battered but not broken, stumbles into his world and tumbles into his bed, she captures his heart. And nothing—not kidnappers or visions of his possible death—will keep him from her.
The above information was obtained from Ms. Julian’s site and Ellora’s Cave.
This book is roughly under 130 pages and let me tell you… Ms. Julian makes use of all of them. This was the first book I had ever read by Ms. Julian and it will not be my last. She is a new to me author, so I am very excited to introduce to her here at the Lair!

Tamara is a very strong willed woman. Having survive an attack and putting her attacker in the hospital with a coma, I would say she is a very determined woman. Afraid her attacker will come out of the coma and come after her… she hits the pavement running. She founds a piece of family property no one knows about (hopefully) and she seeks refuge there.
Kyle… oh man.. Let me just give you this quote that will give you a glimpse of Kyle. This is taken from a conversation between Kyle and his King… about Tam…. ““I’m relieving you of duty for the next twenty-four hours,” Cole called to him just as he stepped into the hall. “Go, make sure she’s safe. Bring her back ’cause I want to meet the woman who brought down the mighty Kyle Rossini.”  Kyle is a lucani versipellis, born from a long line of Etruscan wolf skin-shifters.

When Tam moved out to her family’s property, she was merely trying to run away from her demons; she never expecting to run into more. She was seeking peace and quiet, a place to hide and not be noticed. Instead what she got was anything and everything other than that.
Kyle was fine with the way his life was going. His position in the “army” was just fine with him. He has a daughter who he absolutely adores, a best friend who he could count on day or night and the mother of his child and wife/mate to his best friend. What more could a man ask for, or so that is what he thought until he encountered Tamara.

Kyle and Tamara’s story take us on a wild ride… One you will not soon forget. Tamara’s world gets turned upside down and inside out within the blink of an eye. Her world of just the plain jane turns into so much more. Tamara witnesses firsthand at what a magical world is like. She is not one to believe in a HEA, does she want one.. sure what woman does not want one. But after her attack, she considers herself to be broken, no good. What I admired about Tam is her spirit. Even though she was dealt some crappy cards in life, she did not try to play the victim card.
Kyle never thought love was meant for him – the assassin for the King. He is a supreme bad-ass, except around his daughter. Thanks to her and her pushness, Kyle met Tam. And even though she is only a human, something called to him – the man and wolf. He wanted her, to have, to hold, to mate, to everything. But he could not figure out why. He never had these feelings before – so why now, why with a human.

Is Tamara the one that will get through to his lonely heart and make him give up everything for? Is Kyle the one that will save her from her demons? How strong does love really have to be to over come all?

This book is an explosive start to an amazing series. The characters come alive with every line that is written. You can feel the emotions (all of them, the love, the hate, the violence, the devotion…)  flowing though the pages. You could also feel the steam coming off the pages when you read the love scenes (be warned you may singe your fingertips). The action scenes were not spared any details either. There is never a dull moment in the book. I can thoroughly say that I truly enjoyed Ms. Julian’ writing style and I am very excited to be starting book two… Cuz let me just tell you now…. You get the biggest tease of your life… This woman is good!!!! **evil laughter**

And fyi…. Yea… Kyle is a Sex on a Stick man!!!!!

I do have to say against my own rule, I wish I had more of Tam and Kyle’s relationship! They remind me of Charles and Anna from Ms. Patricia Briggs’s Alpha & Omega series! Yes, that is how awesome this book is and these two characters are.
