Nicholas Klaus is a master pastry chef, a strict disciplinarian, and the eldest son of the legendary Santa Claus. One look at café owner Lucy Brewster sends him into an unexpected tailspin of lusty desires. When Lucy is injured, Nicholas makes a decision that catapults both of their lives into turmoil ….
Lucy Brewster, the free-spirited proprietor of Sweet Inspiration, has a flair for concocting sugary confections but no time for adventure. She gets more than she bargained for when she awakens in the North Pole…rambunctious elves, a fitness-obsessed Santa, and the man of her dreams. Does she have what it takes to become the next Mrs. Klaus?
This is my first book by Ms. Penny but I can promise you, it will not be my last. Her writing is crafty and refreshing. She has taken on an old time tradition and will make you a believer. She created a story that is timeless as the season we celebrate but she put a new spin on the whole thing and it was delightfully fun to read. Ms. Penny will make you feel the magic of Christmas while you are reading her stories… She will make you feel the crisp chill in the air. You will find yourself smelling cookies baking while you read her stories. She will simply bring to life the Christmas season.
Lucy is a very charming woman and has a heart of gold. She is caring, compassionate and very understanding. She lost both of her parents, leaving her alone in this world. But Lucy does not feel alone as she has her employees and all her patrons that come into her bakery, Sweet Inspiration. Her parents would be proud of the woman she has become and the accomplishments she has made. She knows that she works too much but her work is her life. Without it, she would be lost. She is the kind of woman that gives “going above and beyond” new meaning. She throws herself into everything she does… but the thought often creeps in her mind… when is it my turn to have someone take care of me?
Nicholas is a man that is set in his ways. He thrives on order and discipline. He is all work and no play. His passion is in the kitchen, making, baking and simply creating delicious treats. He has traveled all over the world sampling the delights others had to offer, until he walked into a bakery in Easton, New York and discovered a cookie that knocked his socks off… He could not believe he had found a cookie that he could not put his finger on the “secret” ingredient He was determined to get that ingredient… Well, that is what he started out wanting until he met the woman responsible for making that cookie. But he also knew that his time was running out before his father would want to pass the torch down to him in the family business.
This truly is a delightfully, delicious tale of two people coming together by fate and discovering how good they are for each other. That is, until something happens to Lucy – then Nicholas realizes how much he dose not want to live without her. But when asked to take over the family business, Lucy knows that Nicholas should be focusing on that instead of her… But when fate makes up her mind, she will find a way for things to work out. This tale truly takes on a magic feel and you will feel the presence of pure magic and love in this story.
Nicholas, for some reason, cannot express his feelings. I think it is because he is scared of rejection…and not knowing what the other person is feeling is a scary feeling. He knows what he wants and knows it is the right combination – but to watch him fumble through this… well… is priceless. Now Lucy on the other hand, is an enchanting woman but for some reason, she believes that by leaving the one person in the world that loves her, she is saving him… These two, with the help of Nicholas’s family make this story magically believable. Ms. Penny will intrigue you with family, introducing you to the mother, father and brothers (so that means more stories to come)… but then Ms. Penny makes sure to introduce you the extended family…. And what a pleasure they are!
And to be able to read this book during the Christmas season was just the marshmallows in my hot chocolate!! Oh and I will be leaving some cookies and milk out on Christmas Eve!!
