(St. Martin Family Saga: Whiskey Cove #4)
After eight years as a professional poker player, Cashel St. Martin needed a break. The endless glow and ceaseless action of Vegas had lost its luster and his interest. He missed his family and still wore the bracelet Isabela had woven for him all those years ago. In fact, he’d never taken it off. He was willing to give all of his success away for a chance to patch things up with the only woman he’d ever loved.
Isabela had thought of him every hour of everyday since he’d been gone. She’d loved him and she knew he’d loved her but he’d just left it all behind and never once looked back. Now he was back and wanted to pick up where they’d left off all those years ago. He must be insane. After all, this wasn’t Vegas. Relationships required trust, not luck. Hell, he’d been lucky she hadn’t punched him in his too handsome face.

Okay, those St. Martin boys from Louisiana are going to be the death of me. Ms. Gina did it again with another great story with characters that come alive on the pages. They make you breath in the thick, rich air of south Louisiana. They will make you feel the heat of the day and passion that lingers in the night. Her characters are as rich and dark as the coffee that is severed in Louisiana. But no matter what happens, they all know the importance of family.
Cashel, or Cash, is one of the St. Martin twins. His twin brother is Camp, whose story we have not gotten to yet…. Anyway, Cash is a man who has ran from his demons almost all his life. But the bad part is that he has always ran alone and instead of staying with the family that had his back and the woman that loved him unconditionally – he ran. You gotta love a man with demons, because it makes you want to take’em, hold’em and love’em through all of it. But Cash did not think of those around him when his demons burned in his veins, nope, he only thought of himself. But his heart never gave up the one thing, the one person that probably saved his life through all the benders, drunk, wasted, high, nights… His Isa…
Isabela is a woman who I would say is one of the strongest women characters I have read about lately. She has suffered through some serious screwed up stuff no one should every have to deal with, let alone deal with alone. She lost her parents at an early age, was put in foster care but out of all the adversity in her life, she made something of herself. And in college she found the one man that turned her world upside down and inside out – Cash. He was her everything. She would have moved heaven and earth for him but when he left her without so much as a goodbye… well, she was crushed. But her story is hers to tell and I will let her tell it… But be prepared, because it will tear your heart up in two.
These two were like a hurricane when they were together – with their love and their passion. But when someone leaves without saying a word that hurts like a bitch. No to mention that everything goes out the window at that point – trust, faith, hope, love… everything. What is there left when you are left to wonder what the hell happened? Well, that is the situation Isabela found herself in when Cash came back into town… What.The.Hell. And that bad part was her body betrayed her because apparently it had not forgotten the things Cash could make her body do with just a simple stare and even though she was dragged through hell and back, her body (and heart) still wanted him. But can she forgive him for betraying her the way he had or will that hurt forever be etched in her soul. Will Cash finally come to terms with his demons and be free of the past torment and hurt… Can he finally see through his thick, stubborn head of his what is right in front of him – his family and his Isa… are there for him, no matter what… Or will he screw that up again and forever be a man lost in the demons that possess his soul.
On to the next book… see you later hussies!
