#Review – The Dark Seduction of Miss Jane by @AmandaMcIntyre1

A scandalous betrayal sets Miss Jane Goodwin on an unexpected journey to London to pursue her dream of being the first female investigative journalist, but she soon finds herself in a hotbed of murder and controversy. Seduced by the passions of a mysterious lover and stalked by a madman, Jane falls prey to her desires as tensions mount, only to discover a deadly secret that threatens more than just her trust in men.

Inspector Randolph Mansfield is one of Scotland Yard’s elite, battling the dark secrets of his past while trying to solve a rash of grisly murders threatening to mar Queen Victoria’s Jubilee. His respite is the anonymity he finds in the decadence of a private gentleman’s club, until a determined American journalist goes undercover in search of her stalker and he finds the lines between protection and passion blurred. But as tensions heat and her life is threatened, he must choose whether to reveal his true identity at the risk of losing both her trust and his career.

I am a long-standing fan of Ms. Amanda’s work. She always mesmerizes me, captivates me and simply put – she places me ever so gently in the world she has created for me.  Her writing is so like the finest scotch you will ever taste…. Soothing to the smell that she describes so vividly, smooth to the taste buds of all the things around you and ever so strong going down because page after page you will want more. Until you have possibly become drunk on her writing.  Ms. Amanda is not one to toy with your emotions and then place you upon a shelf… No, she will make sure that she uses all of your senses, even depriving one to strengthen the other… She will make sure she enthralls you in the throes of her writing…. Now, let’s discover what she has done now…

Jane is a woman, like many of Ms. Amanda’s heroine’s, a woman after my own heart. She is to be considered a woman who knows no boundaries, who pushes the envelope way pass open and a woman who is hell bent on finding the truth of any matter that crosses her path. She is not an idle woman, who will just sit by and let others dictate to her what she can or cannot do.  I loved her after just a few sentences of the story… She is a woman that does not hold her tongue and I guess… that kind of gives people the wrong impression of her. But does she care… Well, that part you will need to find out for yourself.  But what I will leave you with of her is – she is a woman that knows what pain and heartache feels like and knows she does not like it. She is a woman on a mission to discover her own self and to see what lies in the desires and passion of her soul.

Randolph… Oh Randolph… He is a man riddled with ghosts from his past that he cannot eradicate. He carries the scars of his past but hides them very well from the public eye. He feels the weight of this past on his shoulders every day, but that helps drive him to do his job. One he is very good at, Inspector Mansfield of Scotland Yard. He knows that his past drives him to think beyond the box but he also knows that his past hinders his life, of what he does have outside of work. Randolph has a case unlike no other and with no pertinent evidence. The case seems as oppressive at the atmosphere that surrounds London. He knows that something has to give but what he has no idea… He has given all of what he thinks he can until he meets a woman who dares him to believe he has more to give… A woman hell bent on turning his world upside down…

Jane is a woman who’s desires match no other and for that she second guesses herself, knowing that a woman of her statue should not have those kind of desires. But Jane knows that she is not like other women and knowing that pushes her on the road of discoveries… But could these discoveries but the death of her… Emotional and physical… Determined not to let fear rule her life, she looks fear in the eye and defies it. Randolph has never meet a woman like Jane and it kind of scares him as to how much he wants her… but will the ghosts of his past make sure that he does not have her… Will he ever overcome his past to enjoy his future? One would say, only time would tell, but with the rate of the murders happening on his watch, he might not be able to find out.

This is a story that intrigued me in more ways than one. Ms. Amanda crafted a story so thorough, I thought I was in the torrid heat with Jane and Randolph.  She has me crafting my own ideas and trying to play detective with Inspector Randolph… But she also had me gripping the sides of my iPad I read the sultry acts of carnal delight. Her words bounded me to the pages to see this story to the end and oh my gosh what an ending… This story will seduce you in more than one way, will you allow this story to have it’s way with you…. Trust me, if you do… you won’t be disappointed.
