Review: Blood Mate by @kitty_thomas

BMBlood Mate, a dark fairy tale…

Nicole has been happily married to big shot attorney, Dominic Rose for ten years, but soon after their anniversary he grows cold—as if she doesn’t exist. Meanwhile, another man has been pursuing her far too intently for comfort.

August Corinth is a six-hundred-year-old vampire, cursed to kill and suffer the pain of his victims each night until he can find the one woman who can resist his thrall, his blood mate. Once he’s found her, there are no lines he won’t cross to claim the promised salvation even if it means taking away everything and everyone she loves.

I am going to start by asking you if you have ever read any of Ms. Thomas’ work. If you have, then you know the intensity she will make you feel, you know the gnawing feeling in your soul as you read the words that she has written, you will know the emotion she will ring out of you while the story unfolds on the pages you so quickly turn – just to see what will happen next. Her writing will make you think, make you feel but most of all, it will make you dig deep into places in your mind/soul you might not have otherwise wanted to go… but you will read and walk away feeling…something.

This story is like no other… I was asked to review this for my honest thoughts and here goes.

Nicole is a woman who is living a dream come true. Her husband, Dominic, of ten years is still madly in love with her, adores the ground she walks on, and just devours her every chance he gets. Their relationship is so strong nothing could come between them. Well, that is what Nicole thought until one morning in the coffee shop, she meets a man… a mysterious man that will change her life forever. When she sees changes in Dominic that are not his usual self, who does she have to turn to..Will she be able to accept what this man will do to her and Dominic. Can her relationship survive what happens.

Augustine, August, is a very old vampire who has seen many centuries come and go. He has watched the world change right before his eyes, year after year, decade after decade and century after century. He has learned to deal with surviving – at all cost. He has tried everything to end his own life because a life like this means nothing to him… unless the curse is true and he can survive and thrive and live again and be hopeful to love again. But what if things do not go as planned. What could possibly go wrong with his plan… Everything!

This is a story that broke my heart, gave me hope and had me hoping that everyone got what they deserved. I can’t tell what happened, I can’t tell you if the happy ever after happened, I can’t even tell you who got what. Why, because then I would be giving away the story. But I can tell you that this story will leave you wanting more. You know there is no more to give, but you are hoping that there will be more. You will feel for each character in this story. Even the ones that really do not matter, but you will feel for them just the same. You will keep reading to know what will happened. Then there is a part in the story that had me questioning my own sanity in what I was reading – not in a bad way, actually in a good way… The good way because Ms. Kitty had me really paying attention to what I was reading. She grabbed me and did not let me go till the last page…
